Hands Free Tailgate

Wonder if anyone has particular trick with the hands free tailgate operation. Is there a particular "sweet spot" or motion to trigger it? I have tried different swinging tapping and what not (even slightly kick it), it worked a few times but just never consistent

just line up dead center behind the car and do a quick "kick" under the bumper

this seems to yield the most consistent result

It’s terribly inconsistent for me. I haven’t gotten to work when I’ve actually needed it.

With the towbar you have to kick slightly off the middle of the car.

easiest is to do a side swipe like you're kicking a soccer ball, just extend your foot and start your kick from right to left.

If it’s like mine then it will usually work after I shake my Key Fob....same to lock.

Works great for me in both 2020 glc and gle. Kick directly under center of bumper. Use the license plate for reference.

that was the first thing i thought of. i always have the "sleep" keyfob issue when locking and unlocking doors and have to shake the fob often. so i shake the fob as well before the tailgate but not very successful.

so to confirm, when you guys "kick", you kick straight up from the middle? i do see Virginbenz mention side to side

Regular straight swing of the leg. Just like if you were shooing a pesky dog humping you.

The only way it works for me is if a do a kicking motion towards the vehicle, right in the middle, and hold my foot for about a second at the top
