First thoughts with new V167

The wife's new V167 finally arrived last week.

custom ordered from Mercedes of Rochester in August - delivered on 12/27/19

many nice features she selected:
Power third row
AMG package with black option
21" multispoke
Pano roof
LED headlights
Sport brakes
Augmented Reality Nav
etc etc

The car has so much tech its unreal. it makes my MY18 Macan GTS look like it came out of the stone ages (honestly!) Compared to our 2016 GLE this is a hugeeeee step. I do miss the 6 cyl just a little bit, but the 4cyl with the 9speed does pretty nice. so far so good.

So far the only question i have is this:

When we come to a stop in an intersection, the front camera/dash cam comes on and shows on the screen a live view of the intersection. as soon as i pull away from the intersection the camera turns off. so confusing? i cant figure out the intent...

Congrats on the new vehicle. All of the new technology can be a little overwhelming, and possibly distracting, at times. Enjoy it!!

As far as the camera coming on at traffic lights -- you will appreciate it when you get to one of those lights where you are too far forward and have to keep leaning forward to see if it has changed. It is also nice when the sun is in your eyes and your visor is down and you would normally have to keep leaning under your visor to see if the light has changed. Since the camera is high on your windshield it also gives you just a little better view of anything directly in front of your car. It is also a great conversation piece when your friends are in the car with you.

You can turn that feature off. I think it gets annoying after a few weeks, at least it did for me. Bob makes some good points but around here there are pedestrian lights that are lower and to the side that work as an alternative when the sun is an issue.

I have it set that it offers the view every time I stop, this way I can tap the banner to turn it on if needed

It only works if you are the first vehicle at the lights, if there is a car stopped in front of you it doesn't work as it assumes you are far enough back from the traffic lights to see them.

‘I don’t recall where I found the setting. I just dropped mine off at the dealer this evening to have a flaw in the Xpel fixed so can’t check to see if I can find it again. If no one else responds I’ll try to find it this weekend.

Go into settings on sat nav - view - augmented reality - traffic light view - you get 3 options off/after asking/automatic.
