Panel Gap rear bumper & paint

I have a iridium silver GLE 300 premium, I have noticed the panel gap on the rear bumper where it comes down from the light at 45 degrees is tighter on the passenger side slightly, also the paint inside the air vents looks slightly transparent on both rear air vent close to the black plastic mesh. I would be interested to know if anybody else has noticed this ?

I'm sending images from my car and I think they are quite similar.

I’m really picky about panel gaps, and yours look fine.

l always ask myself “was it just put together by humans” or “has it been in an accident”..

If it was just put together by humans, I let it slide. Nothing manmade is ever perfect. And I won’t own it forever.

Enjoy the car for what it is, and don’t go looking for faults 👍

Looks perfect to me. I don't see any issue.

Jimmy,

What is the measured difference in the gaps you are concerned with in milimeters? I can't tell from your pictures. Anyone know Mercedes' manufacturing tolerance on gaps?

I also don't see the paint transparency issue you mentioned in the Photo, the metallic silver paint is going to make it difficult to photograph.

One side is tight closed, the other is about 0.75 to 1mm, it's not a dramatic difference.
The other panels are all perfect, that was why I was curious more than anything, the back bumper is a big bit of plastic to line up
My eye is maybe a bit to sharp having served my apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce.

A 0.75 - 1.0 mm gap difference is small. I don't know for sure, but I would think a panel gap tolerance variance of <1 mm is what Mercedes is shooting for, so it would be considered normal.
