Just picked up my new GLE350 Friday. Lunar/Macchiato; what a beauty. Had a chance to try the heated steering wheel today and it seems there are some cool spots mostly on the inner rim. Not terrible but having a fit of compulsion where only those on the forum would understand. Had an Audi Q7 prior and it warmed up the whole wheel. Any thoughts?
I haven't noticed any areas that do not have heat. Having said that, I don't know that I have touched every inch of the steering wheel while the heater was on.
I have a wood and leather steering wheel. The heating elements don't reach the edges where the wood meets the leather. Not a deal breaker, but I am not surprised either. I too noticed the wheel is cooler around the stitching.
To bad its not possible to have the AMG steeringwheel (with flat bottom) combined with heat. I took the heat comfort package P68 (902/906) that includes heated armrest and door cover as well. Looking forward to test it. Here above the arctic circle it no need to be shy regarding heat

Edit: codes in P68

What I don't see the reason why the have these rules and regulations regarding these details a round the world. I can understand that the do adjusting to marked and so on when it comes to only AMG line exterior and so on but that's more major stuff. I was told several times that if I wanted heated steering wheel I had to stick with standard. The flat bottom one looks brilliant!

I happened to play with mine yesterday. The heating starts at around 9 and 3 and reaches all the way around the steering wheel after a couple of minutes.
What part do you hold on to while driving? By the many cars I ve had with heated steering wheel I ve never experienced heat other parts than the «rim».

Seems that there are some cool spots on the inner part of the steering wheel. I had an Audi Q7 before and it seems that there weren't any cool spots at all.
Is this the actual control for the heated wheel? Does the switch go back to center after you activate it so next time it is not automatically on? Is there anything on the dash that says it is “on?” It seems to be in a very awkward, hard to get too place.
the top switch is the switch for the heated steering wheel. It's a momentary switch that returns to the neutral position after you activate the heating element. push forward to turn on and then pull to you to turn off. Not sure if it stays on after restart or not though. Haven't had a chance to really try it out since it's already 80 degrees at 830 here in the deep south.
I'm pretty sure there is a small indicator at the bottom of the instrument panel when it's turned on but not certain.
Edit: According to the manual it turns off after you turn the ignition off.
As you say, the switch returns to middle position and an a brief information appears in the MBUX. There is no constant information of the heat status in MBUX, and you have to switch it on every time you start the car. Thats a pitty, I would like it to stay on constantly in the winter period. When you preclimate the car the heated steering wheel, the seats (and panels if you got that code) will preheat along with the airsystem.
Does it eventually even go off after a long time like the heated seats?
It would be nice if it had a setting like our old crappy BMW. One of the very few things about it was that you could set the heated seats or wheel to automatically come on if the outside temperature dropped to a certain level (independently of each other and passenger). Again, one of the very few good options.
I just thought the control for the MB heated wheel appear to be in a hard to get to and see position. On our E class it is on the end of a stalk.
Thanks.

Mine shuts off after a short period of time. I’m guessing the theory is that it’s a ‘warmer” rather than heated as in most vehicles. I might have to look at the manual to see if that’s the way intended. At first I thought there was a thermostat and it would turn on again as it cooled but nooooo.... The good news is it will last forever, but it’s not the way most others work.
I believe the "Hey Mercedes" can control the heated steering wheel but haven't verified that. The switch is in an odd place and seems like an afterthought.
The HUD and MBUX driver side briefly display the heated wheel icon. The switch does light up red when in use. It does shut off every time you shut the engine and leave the car.
Like the seats, it initially heats up at a higher temperature, then over time it reduces it to a more comfortable temperature. I have no complaints after using it from late fall to early spring. It works well, even if you have the wooden steering wheel option. The only cold spots are near the seams.
Just got a 2021 GLe350 about a month ago, today I turned the heated steering wheel on and it was fine (red light kit and showed up on MBUX display) turned it off and it showed that it was off. I go to turn it on again and the light is red but doesn’t show up on display immediately , shows up about ten minutes later. Has anyone had this issue?this is the second glitchy thing happening with my steering wheel this week and im mad. The car is new. My first issue was the touch key on the steering wheel not moving the display screen, it worked after the car was restarted and hasn’t happened again. Help

if I turn it on and off several times over the course of about 5 seconds, it won’t turn on anymore.
