GLE 53 vs GLE 580 ride quality

I am undecided on buying a GLE 580 or GLE 53. Currently we own a 2018 AMG GLC 43 which I love to drive but since it is my wife's car she has found the car too small for road trips and the ride for her is a bit too harsh even in Comfort mode. We test drove the GLE 580 and she liked the ride but since the 580 is harder to come by vs the 53 I am concerned the 53's ride will be to harsh for her if we buy the AMG.
Has anyone been able to compare the 580 vs the 53 with regards to ride, or compare the 43 with the 53 with regards to ride?

I am going to look at a 580 later this week. I live in Rocklin, Ca which is near Sacramento. I've driven the GLE 350 and it is too under-powered for me. The 450 has more than enough power for most people but I spend a lot of time in the Sierra's and I want extra power high up at altitude, hence my search for the 580. I am also interested in the Porsche Cayenne S but it lacks the luxury of the MB. Good luck with your purchasing decision. If you opt for the 580 let me know how you sales experience goes. I'd be interested in your negotiation and what you got as a discount and what options you thought were a "must."

Go with the 580. I have one on order for the same reason, ride quality. AMGs always have harsh ride when compared to regular MBs.
And I’m not going to miss the free one day AMG event coupon because I got the 580 instead.

2024 GMC Canyon Denali..... 2018 Audi SQ5
There will soon be some 53’s in the US to finally try. I have decided to move from my GLE 450 to one or the other....580 or 53. One would have to think that the 53 without AMG Ride Control would ride decent in Comfort Mode. With it, Mercedes describes it as improving the ride in straight line driving. Personally I prefer my 450 with the suspension set in Sport Mode but I can see why others might like Comfort Mode better.
I think that Mercedes messed up by not putting the v8 in the AMG 53 or else a 63 detuned like it is in the 580. That would still leave the 63S for the range topper. The 580 could have used the 53 motor. On paper the 53 and the 580 aren’t far apart until you look at torque. Also .4 seconds is nothing to ignore and at passing speeds is likely more significant. There’s nothing like driving a V8 with big torque.

I started out with a plan to go with a 53 order since it has a full selection of options and it is a kind of “true AMG”. After researching the 580 with the V8 it’s hard to go 53 since it’s not much of a move from the 450 in performance. The 53 has the option of more upholstery and interior trim options. The AMG Ride Control may be a plus if they figure out why the Canadian 53 cars are developing the suspension noise. There doesn’t seem to be a perfect choice for those of us that want a little more power and more sporty handling. To me the 63S is overkill and $30-40k more with very likely reduced range between fueling. With traffic and speed control there’s not much reason to have a 63 IMO except it might be good for the Ego.
Am I missing something? It would be nice to see more user comments about the 580 & 53.

Just found this clip from a Motortrend review of the GLE 63S but it should be relevant for the 53.

There's still a lot more tech and mechanics we could unpack, but we'll get straight to the good stuff how does it drive? In one word: amazing. Leaving the vehicle in Comfort mode would leave even the stuffiest mother-in-law believing she was riding in nothing more than a high-end luxury SUV. The ride is comfortable, the cabin is quiet, and there's nothing that would be cause for alarm. However, switch the GLE into Sport, Sport+, or Race mode, and it awakens into an entirely different beast.“

I agree with a lot of that Ron. At the price point, for me the 580 just seems to be a better buy for what I want, comfort with a who lot of peppiness.
