Mine is now ordered. I'm told to expect delivery no sooner than the end of June, which is fine with me. I usually order the top end audio in a car, but the $7,000 3D option would have put the total over my self-imposed budget. As it is, I'm right at $99,000 before our 13% sales tax.

Here is my build:

It's a great build and all those levies and taxes-- reminds me of the years I lived in Canada. And my mail ending up in Lake Ontario every time Canada Post went on strike. What color interior/exterior?

Hope the months pass quickly. You will love the vehicle!

Yes, I'd say that we are taxed nearly to death up here. That, and our dollar being worth what it is are probably the reason they don't offer the GLE 580 in Canada. I would have blown the budget for one of those! I considered the 53 AMG but I value serenity and a cushy ride over the 'performance' of that model.

I went with the quintessential old-man-spec, silver with the beige interior. Full disclosure though - I'm 41. I'm hoping to enjoy the renowned solidity of the Mercedes - I'm tired of the abysmal build quality of the Lincolns.

Geez, 41. I was older than that when I was born.

Have not owned a North American vehicle since 1995. My father was a Lincoln guy. They would fall apart in a year but while some people's sport is fishing-- his was buying a car every year.

I feel you for the taxes. Here in BC, we have a 14% tax which is not too bad. My GLE 53 is spec'd to $119K which is fully loaded - if it were bumped to $120K, the province would impose a 20% "luxury car" tax, bringing the total tax to 27%.

When we lived in Toronto, I was overweight for a spell and was expecting an extra tax for added stress on sidewalks and added oxygen consumption.

Sometimes I worry about this as well.. Then tax the tax, just because they can. Not a cheap place to live by any means, but is beautiful.

I guess I am old at 27 because I like that spec and I almost went with that for my GLE. IMO Mercedes has the best silver colors that go well with their cars compared to other automakers.

No surprise here my GLE was delayed yet again. I’m told that it will arrive no later than February 22nd and it could arrive sooner. However my optimism is running very thin and I am at the point where I might as well pay the turn in fee from my prior lease and explore other options.

Is anyone else dealing with these crazy delays for a 350? I know the 450s are delayed due to part shortages and take about 6+ months but the 350s I was told would take 3 months or less to build and deliver when I ordered it back in October 2020.

I ordered an AMG GLE 53 at the end of Sept. 2020, due to be build on Monday (feb15th). Have a Vin# already. Then a week to get to the trains, then 3 weeks after that to be delivered, is what I'm being told. Where in the process are you being delayed? When was your actual build date? Is it built already? You waiting on trains?

While waiting on our 53, we have had delays on other purchases. The latest is a love seat - was 6 months now 8 months. Then there's the PS5, the router I wanted, and a pair of surround speakers.
So we've had to have our current love seat repaired instead of donating, my home office doesn't connect well, and I've been driving our '96 Go-to-the-dump truck since October.

It isn't just a Mercedes problem.

I have a VIN and a PO number. I ordered it back in October of 2020, it was built in November/December. However, it is still sitting at the factory due to the rear seat belt recall since December. It was supposed to arrive mid December before Christmas, but it got delayed 4 times since that date due to the recall, aka a friggin zip tie for the rear seat belts so the thing doesn't fall below the seat. I was told that it is supposed to arrive via truck (I am in FL and the factory is about an 8 hour drive from the dealership).

This is the first custom build I have done and it has not been a great experience.

GLE63S 2016
2021 GLE

We received our 2021 GLE63S after a very long wait. In fact, we had ordered it as a 2020 model, but because of the excessive wait, we ended up getting the 2021 model.

The wait was totally worth it. It is easily the best car we’ve had. We also have a 2019 G63.....but that is another animal entirely.

This one beats the pants off the Bentayga in every way. I was quite surprised.

IMO, it’s not the zip tie. Mine sat 30+ days waiting for seats and a 48 volt battery, maybe more.... Very likely a shipment from a supplier was delayed or some items rejected for QC.

I'll bet it's the first car you've bought during a Pandemic, too!

Two Special Orders ago, our '15 GLE Bluetec got built and sent to Maryland. It was there for at least 6 months, when it was announced that they wouldn't sell the car to us. That was right after we lost our Cayenne to Dieselgate - so two cars in a row.
Now I'm waiting on a 53.........

Yes it is the first car I got during a pandemic. I usually try to avoid doing a custom order because I always thought that the dealerships give less of a discount on them since they know that it has a buyer. I am not sure if that is true but so far it seems to be so. However, the Rona has also impacted that as well.

Wow that blows. At that point I would have complained to MBUSA.

Yep. The "non delivery" of 2015 Diesels was a result of Dieselgate, too. I don't think ANY diesels were sold in 2015, nationwide. Even after they built hundreds or more. As I understand, the cars were shipped overseas to markets that would accept Tier 6 diesels.
That never explained to me why they continued to sell diesel Sprinters after that, and still do.

So after the '15 derailment, we got the last year Diesel, 2014 as a used car. Our former 450 was to replace the ML as a tow vehicle. Now that THAT one has been returned, the ordered 53 is planned to be the tow vehicle. And off-road Cruiser (replacing my Land Cruiser), and Track Car, replacing various track cars.

I wonder it it will show up (and be trouble free)..... My hand is cramping from Crossed Fingers.

2021 GLE Coupe
I’m with you guys, ordered two gle coupes on oct. 17th. Was told middle of Jan for delivery. In mid Dec was told one would be built 1st decade March, and second decade April for the second. This is a six and seven month wait before delivery. I hope some of you whom ordered in January and February don’t have to wait that long. But beware.

2021 GLE 450
2021 GLE 450. I ordered it Nov 3, 20, it was built 1-28-2021, and the dealer received it 2-10-21 in the evening and I picked it up yesterday.

The day after it was built I went to the dealer to get an idea when they will receive it. It was just a guess, but they printed out the new update that now it had a VIN# and the price was $100 less. I went through the options and noticed the factory deleted the chrome door handle inserts without explanation.

When I went to inspect the car, I noticed it had different wheels then what I ordered. When I ordered, I had the sales agent go to the MB consumer website under the build it page. For the non-AMG, there were 2 19" wheel options, both aluminum. I ordered the 2nd option, the multispoke and the picture in the build configurater show a 360 degree photo with the wheels. The ONLY 2 options were satin aluminum which I liked. I got something completely different, painted gray with out explanation. The dealer said they could not do anything other then I did not have to accept the order. They were nice about it and offered me compensation toward my trade in. I accepted, but wonder why the factory changed the order and why they didn't explain if it was a parts issue or whatever.

So far, I think I like it. And the insurance was less then my lower priced 4 year old Jaguar sedan. That was unexpected

On the chrome handle inserts, I'm 99% sure they're installed at the VPC (Vehicle Prep Center), not at the factory. Similar to the roof spoiler, load sill protector, and side cladding. If you still want them, I think they're just a simple peel-off adhesive that you or the dealer can install in 5 minutes, and you can probably find them online for less than $100.

I ordered the Load Sill Protector and it was on the factory order sheet and already installed when I received the car.

Those wheels match your GLE beautifully!

im exploring different insurance companies. Progressive quoted me in the mid 500s for 6 months, then a month later the price was in the upper 700s. Literally made no sense to me why it increased so much on the same exact car a month apart.

I would love those wheels in Black on my incoming 53AMG. As a factory option they cost over $4,000. I will try and find after market wheels. Those wheels look like the company Drag Wheels makes.

Thanks to you and makris0000 for your replies. I'm older and more into luxury then sport. I am also conservative in choosing a car style. In my mind many older Mercedes out there still look great, where some other brands are more bold making there older cars look dated. I'm the last person in the world to balance style with trendy, but I'm glad your replies were both positive. I do like the car and hope it is trouble free for many years.
