Mercedes me app

Any one using this Mercedes me 2020 app in the US?

It doesn’t come up for me in the app store, I have the one below which looks like an older version.

Apple or Google? For Google there appear to be two Apps now. Mercedes me that has a connect tab as an option on the Home Screen. Then there is Mercedes connect for the vehicle info like you display. Something changed several weeks ago because I no longer get messages about my vehicle being unlocked. The Mercedes me App is glitchy on my phone, won’t open frequently. I haven’t bothered to figure it out hoping that they would fix the issue or someone would post a solution. I am going to remove the first App that I never use to see what happens.

There appears to be an Apple App for the iPhone, Mercedes me (USA) but it won’t work on my iPad.

Thanks....There is no 2020 App in either App Store that I can find today. This may be coming to the US soon. The Windows version has a feature that shows vehicle location that would be nice to have on a phone. If your vehicle is stolen it would be inconvenient to have to bum a ride home to tell the Police your cars location.
Edit....I use Chrome on my computer to access Mercedes.

Looks like this is being rolled out in Europe first. No word on a USA rollout. For the USA there are currently two apps, Mercedes Me for 2018 and older and Mercedes Me Connect for 2019 and newer. The latter is what I'm using for my 2019 C63S. They do seem to be struggling with keeping it all working. I also no longer get alerts when my car is unlocked, and lately the app seems to take forever to start periodically. Most of the functions do work, though for what I use it. Some things never really worked reliably. I've set up some geo fences, but the notifications sometimes arrive and other times they don't. The new Mercedes Me Connect platform was clearly not ready when the first 2019 models hit the dealerships. The portal was a mess for most of last year. Things kinda work overall, with some stragglers like notifications and security alerts that still don't work reliably and don't seem to work at all at the moment.

Not very optimistic things will get better anytime soon. The Mercedes Me 2020 app has two stars in the Apple Store. Seems like a fresh coat of paint on the same structurally falling apart house.

Unfortunately pretty much all the car manufacturers are struggling with their connected car platforms. Either they are sourcing this stuff out to incompetent teams or they just can't hire decent software teams in house. Either way, they need to get better at software development.

I tried to download the new app as I had received an email stating that the old app would no longer be in use.
Unfortunately it seems that my phone is too old and is not compatible with the new app!

On iOS, too. There's a law enforcement interface, too, where MBUSA can give access to the police so they can track a stolen car. The function in the app is mainly for those who misplace their cars in a parking lot and to get walking directions to find it.

On my Samsung Note 9 for the last several weeks I have been getting notifications from my phone that the Mercedes ME Connect app was repeatedly crashing in the background and using excessive amounts of battery power. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Reviewers in the Play Store report similar experiences and have it rated 2,2. I'm sure they will have it fixed by the time I trade in 2-3 years.

Honestly, I don't really understand why car manufacturers aren't all just using Apple or Google assistants. Not only would they save the expense of developing their own assistants, it would allow their drivers to easily integrate their cars into their home smart ecosystems. I'd much rather be able to talk to Alexa than Mercedes.

Video definitely showcases the Mercedes Me 2020 on an iPhone however, as superswiss mentioned, that app is very poorly rated on the App Store. Also, not yet available on the US app store.

That makes perfect sense except that they probably have reasons that they think are important...like losing control and the unknown of what Alphabet may do in the future. Alphabet could be a formidable competitor in the autonomous vehicle of the future. If everyone had the same tech then it might allow Kia to become more like Mercedes by adding Luxury components. Whatever the reason, most Car Manufacturers seem determined to build their own at great expense to them and us as guinea pigs.
Audi seems to be headed that way more than most others. They switched the vehicle operating system to an Android based as I recall in about 2018. The new Q/SQ8 seem to more smart phone like with no buttons and all touch screen. Wireless Car Play but they still have USB Android Auto for some reason. It looked to me like you pretty much control most vehicle functions by touchscreen....not sure what you can control by voice.
Edit-the steering wheel controls, stalks and light switch remain.

The Canadian Apple App store does not have the new Mercedes me 2020 version yet either.
hopefully this new version will reinstate the capability to open/close the windows and sunroof remotely.
Side note: pressing and holding the unlock button on the key fob works, only within a few meters of the car, defeating the purpose of getting an early start on airing out a hot car.

Very good point about Alphabet as a potential competitor with autonomous vehicles. I think you've probably hit the nail on the head.

I've had a very good experience with MBUX, but many others haven't. If they can improve the experience via over-the-air updates, I think most consumers will be happy. I used to say about my Amazon Echo that it was the only piece of technology I had ever purchased that actually improved after purchase, and that made me very happy. Any product you purchase that gets better as time goes by will get high marks from the customer, as long as the initial experience doesn't drive them away first.
