Hi X7K, how did you fix your 2nd row seat? Thx!

 

I have a 2014 GL350 Bluetec with three rows of seats. The second-row seat-back won't fold back up after I pressed the button to access the third row. Now, the seat is stuck with the seat-back in the folded position. While I can manually fold the seat to lock it into place, I can't lift the seat-back, as it remains folded.

The dealer says a frame needs to be replaced, which will cost $3,200. I had a similar issue in 2015, which the dealer fixed under the OEM warranty by stating that the "Bowden cable came out from its anchor, causing the seat-back to get stuck".

I'm looking for help to unlock the 2nd row seat. I don't mind not using the fold function again if I can unlock it and use the second-row bench as is. We can still access the third row using the single seat in the second row. Any assistance would be appreciated.

 

Hi. I have a 2024 GLE with electric rear seats.

I folded the rear seats to put a big chair inside and i think one of the legs pulled the red strap. All good until i wanted to raise the rear left seats into the right position.
I tried the button from the boot.... nothing, i tried the botton from the seat nothing, i tried the door adjustment and again nothing...
I pulled myself the red string to put it back manually, and it was blocked. I tried with all my force ( the car was shaking) in the same time i was pulling the strap. (when i was pulling the strap there was a "clank" so the strap was working) I was sofrustrated and i looked on google.
I saw here that someone said to push the seats until you hear clank. I pushed and pushed and nothing. I left the car with the thought that i have to go tommorow to the delearship and argue with them to fix it because the next day i need to go on a trip.
I came back and i jumped with my legs as hard as i could and there was the CLANK. I went to the boot press the button and worked. So thank you the man that said to push the seat l.
