Hi Mercedes vs Siri
Has it been others experience that when you iPhone is plugged into port for Apple play, that hi Mercedes doesn’t recognize phone call commands and consequently you have to make request via Siri?

Yes, that's by design as they say. If the phone is plugged in and CarPlay is active, then Bluetooth is disabled and with it the phone functions. The phone functions at that point can only be operated from within CarPlay and hence through Siri.
