AMG v non-AMG HUD

I was looking at some reviews and looks like the AMG versions have additional options in the head up display than the non AMG versions. Is that right or is it a setting in the non-AMG as well ? If not, any idea if there are any OTA updates for the GLE that might be coming up ?

Here is what I’m referring to:

I don’t recall seeing that on my 53. I thought I looked through all the options but might have taken a shortcut when I got it like my 450.

I saw this on one of the 53 reviews. I like the “full screen” kind of approach but granted the 3 separate sections show more options.

I was test driving the X5 and the graphics on the HUD looked much more richer especially on highways while taking exits.

Yes, there are additional display options for AMG. I doubt that you can get an AMG display in a non-AMG, OTA or not.

There is more info available in my 2021 AMG HUD vs the 450. Now that I’m getting used to it there is no reason to look down at the display often. Maybe the other 21’s have changed also. Here’s a pic I took today.

Left side-Route guidance Android Auto; Cell signal & battery
Center-Speed 85 with Distronic set to 85; Headlights on auto; Gear selection is in 8 using the paddle shifters so it shows the next gear up.
Right- Posted speed read from traffic sign; Song playing from Android Auto

There are more custom screens...this is along the line of what I settled on with my 450. The basic info plus what Merc throws in...
I can barely read the HUD with Polarized glasses so I bought a $20 pair of non Polarized from Walmart for the car.

I have all that same info in the HUD of my 2020 GLE450 with the exception of the gear selection. I was a little disappointed that I have different menu choices on the left vs the right and I can't change that. For example, I would like to have my AA directions on the left and my fuel economy on the right...No can do !

That is the AMG 63 hud. We had exactly that on my wife's previous car - 2018 E63S,

My early build 450 had route guidance with Mercedes Nav but not with AA...but my last update was late 2019 10k service. I don’t recall AA music being displayed either but not sure on that.
At 85mph+ I didn’t play with Nav much but I couldn’t get back to Mercedes Nav while using AA. The console map button took me back to AA Nav. I was going to try the menu, I assume that would work. After driving my wife’s car for 5 months I’m starting over more than I like.

Polarized glasses do not work on HUD. I have been using the cheapies on the HUD on the Acadia Denali for years.

l can confirm that my AMG 53 has that tachometer screen. The cell phone signal & battery remain at the bottom left. Auto headlights and paddle shift remain lower center.
Edit-also the present gear is displayed in the center with the suggested next gear shift... the later being worthless info.

I was reading on one of the forums where you can recode to enable the multi beam headlights. I wonder if the HUD can be recoded too, and if yes can we get the AMG tachometer screen on non-amg or change menu choices from left to right like what @chrisslk55 is looking for

I have my HUD set up on my 350 like Ron S does. I have CarPlay; and if I use Waze the last time I checked the driving directions don’t show up on the left screen...they do if you use the Mercedes nav. Wonder if that’s a software upgrade or just a new feature on the 21? Two features I wish they would add to the HUD are turn signal indicators and outside temp. I like to have a steering wheel set low so I can rest my elbows on the armrests, and the top of the wheel obscures those indicators on the center dash screen — my 2 cents.
