155 MPH for both 53 SUV and Coupe according to this site.

FWIW, I finally did a 0-60 run, using the onboard Track Pace that's included in the Dynamic Plus Package.
It showed 4.97 secs twice in a row, with my SUV fairly heavy with extra gear aboard, slight uphill grade.

At the track, it shows 1G+ on left and right cornering, 1G++ on braking, but not acceleration. 21" All Season Conti MO-1 tires.
I have seen 133 on straights.

I'll have to do a quarter and report back.
Then maybe you can calculate what hp it puts down with minimal AWD tire slip?
I just have to find a venue.

Stock isn’t that far off…instrumented times reported are 13+ seconds and 102-105 mph.

Found a lonely stretch of road, only slight uphill, quarter mile 13.85 at 105mph. Running at 5,300 feet elevation. SUV not Coupe, so about 5,200 pound car. No launch control.
@jaketuff what's that mean for hp?

Good Stuff!

HP = (MPH ÷ 234)³ × Weight
That means you are putting down 470 hp at theground .... Solid. Especially a mile high. Looks like a JATO is not needed to hit 112 trap speeds!!! (With the heavy duty driveline on our vehicles assume at least a 15% loss from the flywheel - makes gross 552HP??? WTH...)

HP Loss = (elevation x 0.03 x horsepower @ sea level)/1000
The turbos should mitigate a lot of lost HP. I doubt you are losing 70 HP due to elevation.

Great AWD system on these cars 4matic really gets power to the ground.

Yeah, I guess we have to amend our terminology. This won't by the last time we'll have to "change our ways," with technology and powertrains changing with the times. FWIW, automatics don't really have flywheels anymore, either.

"At the crank" is currently appropriate, but will we even have "virtual crankshafts" in the future?

I'll enjoy all these power enhancements, whatever their form, while I can.

On a recent trip up to Disney on the TP at 4:30 AM with no other cars insight and my escort max on duty the 53 recorded 134 and I think she still some left. So that 112 is BS.

On the 53 it should be 155 MPH. If you go to the Mercedesbenz Connect app, you should be able to confirm this via the the speed alert setting. Mine goes up to 150 MPH…

I think the app setting is generic. It only shows up to 150mph for me also but I have a 63s

Yep, you’re right. I just looked at my wife’s app for her GLE 350, and it also shows 150 MPH.

Isn't the formula only for RWD cars? The GLE53 is nowhere close to that power...

True, good point... I know not of a proper AWD formula. The drivetrain should take away power but the grip adds it back.

Let me hunt around.

There may not be a good formula for the EQ Boost cars. The mild hybrid only adds 21 HP but 184 lbs of torque for a short period. IMO, the AWD might be a minor piece of the puzzle compared to the EQ Boost. Plus the electric boost feature on the 53 can’t hurt. As I recall Car & Driver clocked 0-60 at 4.7 & 4.9 vs Mercedes stated of 5.2. The instant torque from electrification makes for some great performance. Mercedes is stating that the E Performance V8 will be under 3 seconds.

@jaketuff what's that mean for hp?
I'm not clear on why the power source, or AWD or ??? makes any difference.
I thought it was the amount of energy used to bring a mass (weight of car) to a given speed in a given amount of time, determined what power was needed to make that happen.

Here, I thought I'd post the same run with it's onboard graph. I didn't pay attention to which gear the automatic trans was in at the end.
Somehow it feels like the AMG53 has more wind or tire rolling resistance than my 2020 GLE450. 21" tires on the 53, 20 non staggered on the 450. It's like I run into more wind/rolling resistance than run out of power.

I know that 80mph on cruise control gets 25mpg, where the 450 got 30.
It could also be the electric supercharger affecting mpg, which is very aggressive in adding boost (subtracting MPG!) at every undulation in the road. This is one area where selecting "Comfort" reduces the supercharger's aggressiveness.

In any case, it looks like the acceleration curve isn't flattening much at 105mph.

Here, I found this while looking for tire fitments. Interesting way to compare various cars' performance: https://www.automobile-catalog.com/p...atic_plus.html It also agrees with my high-altitude sprint.

I found a dry, lonely stretch of Freeway today in Utah and had mine to 134. It was still pulling hard when I backed off of the throttle. My radar detector has GPS & the speed syncs exactly with my car except for it obviously lags a little when accelerating. At 90 both read 90.
On a side note the car is extremely stable at high speed...except for telephone poles whizzing past it feels about the same at 90-130MPH.
Did the telephone poles look like a picket fence? Sorry, had to quote Commander Cody! Did the lines on the road look like dots?

We are all entitled to a little common sense avoidance once in a while. I’ve done it, but not recently! Management would kill me if she found out. I love music and your comment about the telephone poles immediately reminded me about a song called Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. Give it a listen. It could be your driving theme song!

I liked the song in my younger days. I'll check it out...there was an Idaho connection so it has played off and on over the years.

Ryan's original rockabilly version of the song was released in 1955 through Souvenir Records under the artist name Charley Ryan and the Livingston Bros.[1] A second version was released in 1959 through Four Star Records, credited to Charlie Ryan and the Timberline Riders.[2] Ryan based the description of the eponymous car on his own hot rod, built from a 1948 12-cylinder Lincoln chassis shortened two feet, with a 1930 Ford Model A body fitted to it.[citation needed] Ryan raced his hot rod against a Cadillac sedan driven by a friend in Lewiston, Idaho, driving up the Spiral Highway (former U.S. Route 95 in Idaho) to the top of Lewiston Hill.[3] Some say he incorporated elements from this race in his lyrics to "Hot Rod Lincoln", but changed the setting to Grapevine Hill (a long, nearly straight grade up Grapevine Canyon to Tejon Pass, near the town of Gorman, California) to fit it within the narrative of "Hot Rod Race"

Is this a screenshot of something that you pulled up on your screen in your car? If so, is it specific to your model?
