Tips, Tricks, Hidden Features

What are some Tips, Tricks, Hidden Features, or more convenient ways of accessing things?
After 8 months of owning 2020 GLE 350
I just found an AC vent in the glove compartment that can be opened and closed.

Is that for the Air freshener option? I’ll have to go look at mine and see if I have a vent, I don’t have the air freshener on mine.

I don't have the air freshener option but I do have the vent.

Tips, Tricks, or Hidden Feature:
Hold down the car icon on the center console turn on the camera view
This is fairly common on newer car - when reversing, if you have the passenger side mirror set to lower angle (to see the curve for example), the mirror position will stored as the "reverse" setting, and everytime you put the car on reverse, and as long as your right mirror is selected, it will lower automatically.

Something that I found that is very useful:
Ability to control right passenger seat from driver side (if you have the option)
Warm and comfort package really heat up the interior fast on winter time which is very nice

Something I wish I have ordered for my car:
Soft closing door. I found that the door on the GLE takes more force to close when comparing to my old car. I wish I have ordered that options

I don’t have air freshener either. But I do have the small circular air vent. It’s on the top of the compartment

sometimes the mirror lowers and sometimes it doesn’t. How to actually set this setting?

Make sure your car is on reverse, and the right mirror is selected (light is on on the right mirror selector). Then set the position.
As long as you don't change the mirror selection (right side has to be the selected one), it will lower on reverse (given that your normal driving mirror position is different)

I found that going to YouTube and looking up Nick O’Leary from Mercedes Benz of Poole in England has some fantastic videos showing tips & tricks, MBUX and many other features of Mercedes cars and SUV’s that are extremely helpful.

Do the microphone outlets for the voice control on the driver side and passenger side amplify the front passenger voices to the back? I was messing around in the car today and tapped on one and I heard it in the back, like when you might tap on a microphone.

I heard this was a feature but never figured out how to use it.

I second the post about Nick O'Leary, he's terrific and I watch all his video's. He's a must to help explain the many features on MB vehicles.

For sure. He was very helpful as I was beginning to learn the new car. Still learning.
Just be aware that some of the features he talks about may not be available in the States.

I have the little circular vent at the top of my glove box also, I never noticed it. That must be what they put in the glove box if you don’t have the air freshener/zen option...or whatever it’s called.

There is a setting in MBUX to set the intensity of the voice amplification of the system.
Settings -> System -> Audio -> Voice Amplification
I never test this feature out as I am always the driver of the car and never in the back seat

I noticed that whenever I do the remote start, my headlights do not turn on anymore when it is dark outside. Only the DRLs turn on along with the real taillights.

Also I noticed that now my iPhone actually tells me where I parked my GLE. Only took 11 months for that to start working again.

It's not a very obvious option, but we've noticed that it is very easy to hear the front seat conversation while in the back. So I suppose it is working!

The way I tested mine is to park your car somewhere quiet, and tap on the mic with your fingernail. You should hear the sound coming from the back. It works even when there is no one in the back seat.

You hold the traction off button for a few seconds, just pressing it once turns on traction sport. If it is a non-AMG vehicle, you could try turning off ESP in settings.

How do you do this above?

Also I found out it is possibly to tilt the pano roof up and not have to open the shade the whole way. Just push the button up instead of sliding back. How have I not know that!!!!

Lastly. Does anyone have trouble charge their iPhone 13 Pro in the charging area? When I put mine in there it starts for about 3 seconds then turns off and the MB system tells me to remove the item from the charging area. This happens with or without a case on the phone. My wife’s iPhone 11 charges.

I believe they used the map function to see the spot of their vehicle on Mercedes Me.

For your second question, I think the phone thought the charging pad was an NFC pad or an NFC point of sale terminal so it activated ApplePay for some reason. For some reason your car is not detecting the phone's Qi wireless charging coils. Any chance there are interferences by other devices that might have caused this? Try turning off ApplePay temporary and see if it helps, if it can be disabled. You could also try disabling wireless charging on your vehicle and then turning the function back on and see if it helps. You could try switching off NFC in your vehicle of MBUX as well. In case you couldn't find it: MBUX- Settings> System> Wi-Fi and Bluetooth> NFC.

The following is something suggested by another forum member here: In your phone settings, go to battery then battery health and turn off optimized battery charging.

There is also a service bulletin for wireless charging posted by forum member konigstiger: https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post8393126

That is for Apple Maps. In the Maps settings (Settings > Maps) if you scroll all the way down under "Your Car" and make sure "Show Parked Location" is turned on.

The tilt for the pano roof is nice! I just found that out the other day when I accidentally clicked up instead of back to open the shade.

For the wireless charging, you may have to take it to the dealership. There is a TSB for the IPhone 12 but I am not sure if they have it for the 13 models too. When I took mine for that issue with my 12 Pro Max they did a software update and it fixed the problem.

The cause is that the camera lens on the iPhone 13 Pro protudes further from the phone body than earlier models so the internal charging component of the phone is not close enough to the charger itself. It's a common issue with this model on many wireless charging base stations, not much you can do about it.
