I am currently needing to purchase snow chains for my GLE. my tire is 275/50/20 is there anyone that can recommend a set of chains? The ones from the dealer ship are $630.00 which come from germany.
Is there anyone that has one that they like, which is available in the US?

The German Rud chains are very good: https://www.rudchainusa.com/tirechains; much better than cable chains. The RUDcompactGrip is the one, also called Grip V Compact. For my 275/50R20s the size is 0141. These may well be the same one your dealer is offering. I always had these for my previous MLs/GLEs, but with good Winter tires never needed them.
According to MB, they do not suggest chains on the front wheels because of clearance. When look at chains on the previous links, Rud makes a zero clearance tire chains. Does anyone know if these could be used or not. Is it a good idea or bad idea for any chains to be on the front no matter what?

I’m not sure clearance is the whole issue. With compact chains there is plenty of clearance. I’ve been driving these cars for 23 years and with good Winter tires never needed chains, even going to Mt. Hood skiing.

Chains are a an easier more economical way for me. With what little snow we get it’s just not practical to buy a separate set of tires and possibly wheels. It is just cheaper and easier to go drive in the snow/ice/bad weather that will usually be gone in a couple of hours or day usually at the most, and have fun. Then if you have a problem or get stuck, put the easiest simplest chain on (or remedy), drive/get out of the problem, take them back off, and continue on.
Chains are a great safety net for me when we go driving to find snow.

Makes sense - I didn't see where you were from. We usually don't get much here in the Portland area, but still worth it to me to have a second set of wheels/tires.
OK i need a little help. Tire chain and peerless both emailed me back and said they do not have a size to fit my rear tires. I’ve got another email into RUD asking them but I have not heard back yet. Does someone know of anything for a 325/35-22 that is not the “astronomical priced spider looking attach to the lug nut” style? I don’t know what they are exactly called.
