Battery voltage too low for Multimedia System Update
While driving, got an alert that a Multimedia Infotainment system update was available for download. Tapped yes to start the download.
After download was complete, it asked me to accept the terms of agreement before install.
In order to accept the terms of agreement, it said that the vehicle needed to be in park and ignition off. Pulled over, parked and tuned ignition off.
Accepted the terms and tapped install. Then got this error message:
Software Update Could Not Be Installed
Battery Charge Insufficient
Checked the battery charge and it was 14.8V. Turned the ignition back on and tried to tap install, but it's asking me to accept the terms of agreement again which I can only do in park/ignition off.
Now I'm in an endless loop. I can't accept the terms unless ignition is off and it won't install with ignition off because battery voltage is too low.
Drove around for a while and the battery voltage never got above 14.8V. Thoughts?

If you wait for 5 minutes after running the engine, are you significantly below 12.6v?
Do you normally take only short trips and then park? That could lead to a partially charged battery, after resting and losing its surface charge. That could explain the "Battery Charge Insufficient" warning.
But if you go out tomorrow morning, check the voltage before starting and it still says 14.8v, it seems that something is amiss. It should read lower.

Take a look at your battery charge condition on the app and see what it says.
I've driven less than 500 miles in three months so I use it if I'm not going to be driving for more than a week.
Yeah, the app is saying that the battery is partially charged.
We don't put many miles on the car anymore because of the pandemic.
We are driving less than half the number of miles we used to. And now most trips are short.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if the battery eventually gets charged up, use one of the gizmos mentioned above, or have the dealer do the software install.

It's affecting many of us with the pandemic. I got into a similar situation with my C63 earlier this year. The app had been saying partially charged for a while, and then I took it in for Service B and while they were working on it I started to get critical battery alerts on my phone. So, the battery basically didn't have a lot of charge left even after driving 30 minutes to the dealership. After I got it back, I eventually hooked it up to my tender and now it's showing fully charged again.
