Battery voltage too low for Multimedia System Update

What battery voltage is necessary for over-the-air Multimedia System update?

While driving, got an alert that a Multimedia Infotainment system update was available for download. Tapped yes to start the download.
After download was complete, it asked me to accept the terms of agreement before install.
In order to accept the terms of agreement, it said that the vehicle needed to be in park and ignition off. Pulled over, parked and tuned ignition off.
Accepted the terms and tapped install. Then got this error message:

Software Update Could Not Be Installed
Battery Charge Insufficient

Checked the battery charge and it was 14.8V. Turned the ignition back on and tried to tap install, but it's asking me to accept the terms of agreement again which I can only do in park/ignition off.
Now I'm in an endless loop. I can't accept the terms unless ignition is off and it won't install with ignition off because battery voltage is too low.
Drove around for a while and the battery voltage never got above 14.8V. Thoughts?

The 14.8v - 15.6v reading is normal WHILE CHARGING, and for a little while after turning the engine off. Resting charge should be @12.6v.
If you wait for 5 minutes after running the engine, are you significantly below 12.6v?
Do you normally take only short trips and then park? That could lead to a partially charged battery, after resting and losing its surface charge. That could explain the "Battery Charge Insufficient" warning.
But if you go out tomorrow morning, check the voltage before starting and it still says 14.8v, it seems that something is amiss. It should read lower.

I did not have your specific problem but when using the MercedesMe app, my battery showed "partially charged" even after driving for over an hour. When I had it at the dealer, they load tested the battery and charged it. They blamed it on short trips during COVID (only put on 5000 miles last year) and periods of sitting. It then showed good again in the app for several weeks until it started to show "partially charged" again. I put it on an AGM battery trickle charger/maintainer for 24 hours and all has been back to normal in the app again for a couple of weeks now.

Take a look at your battery charge condition on the app and see what it says.

If you don't drive much or take a lot of short trips, you could try one of these to keep your battery charged:

Amazon Amazon

I've driven less than 500 miles in three months so I use it if I'm not going to be driving for more than a week.

Thanks guys, appreciate your input.
Yeah, the app is saying that the battery is partially charged.
We don't put many miles on the car anymore because of the pandemic.
We are driving less than half the number of miles we used to. And now most trips are short.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if the battery eventually gets charged up, use one of the gizmos mentioned above, or have the dealer do the software install.

Unless you go for a really long drive, it won't charge up if you continue to drive short distances. The car actually uses battery while it's parked to maintain the telematics and online connection, so you'll be in a 1 step forward 2 steps backwards kinda situation over time. There should be a standby mode that you can activate, which shuts that all off while the car is parked for an extended period, but you'll have to activate each time.

It's affecting many of us with the pandemic. I got into a similar situation with my C63 earlier this year. The app had been saying partially charged for a while, and then I took it in for Service B and while they were working on it I started to get critical battery alerts on my phone. So, the battery basically didn't have a lot of charge left even after driving 30 minutes to the dealership. After I got it back, I eventually hooked it up to my tender and now it's showing fully charged again.
