Thumbs up Wind noise

After I got off the phone yesterday with MB customer service, I felt somewhat disappointed. The rep was not friendly, was not going to document my complaint regarding wind noise, and was anxious to get done with the call ASAP. This is perhaps why there is no service bulletin on this issue, it may go undocumented more times than not. I remember having a squeaky brake problem with my GLC when it was put in reverse on cold days. No one really stepped up to the plate to remedy this widespread issue. My dealership which is about 90 minutes from my home, where I am a loyal customer, said a Mercedes should not have these issues and replaced all the brakes. The local dealership, about 20 minutes away did nothing even for their customers. It appears to me that some consistency, and an improvement in customer care is needed with Mercedes. A fine reputation will eventually become diminished.
Whether one likes their vehicles or not, Lexus appears to be the benchmark for customer care. Family and friends who had owned Lexus products always raved how the company and the local dealerships treated them. They appear to be the Nordstrom while Mercedes is the Macy’s, not bad however not that good either.

Great comparison - Nordstrom/Lexus to Macy’s/MB.

Here's another one. Bentley is to Peninsula Hotels as Mercedes is to Holiday Inn Express.

It really depends on the Dealership, and their priorities.
I, too travel 2 hours to a dealer whose service department I trust, an hour and a half beyond the closest dealer.
I would not buy a Lexus because of their local dealer's service reputation. And others I could name but won't, because my experience may differ from others.
But the Porsche dealer is stellar.
It just depends, and you can't make a generalization about all dealers from any brand.
A big part of any dealer's ability to take care of you, is their relationship with the Factory Service Rep. It's something to cultivate, although many new, third-generation owners don't seem to be aware.

This says M-B is aware of the issue, but no TSB is referenced: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post8291321. MBUSA customer service does seem lacking, in my experience. Best to have a dealer that is proactive for you.

Funny how we both go out of our way to do business with the dealer we feel most comfortable with. My Friends who do buy MB just go to their local dealer, they however are not “car people “ . You are correct in the fact that one cannot generalize about a brand and their overall customer service. It has just perhaps been coincidental that anyone that I know who has had a significant issue with a Lexus has had the matter resolved in a timely, professional manner where the customer went away completely satisfied. Over the years I’ve had little to do with MB customer service, and after my conversation with them yesterday I was not impressed. Thanks for your comment, I do agree.
