Considering GLE 450

Hi everyone,

Picked up our third Mercedes, '21 GLC 300, after being away from them for a little bit. That one was for the wife. I'm looking to get a GLE 450. I'm coming from a '17 Explorer Ecoboost that has had a canned tune put on it so it runs great. The shifting is firm and about where it should be and there is no hesitation when accelerating. I'm guessing my HP and torque are a bit higher than the GLE but I do have a 6 speed compared to the GLE's 9.

My dealer has an open slot for July. The problem is, my dealer not anyone has one I can drive so I'm concerned with how the GLE will be since I can't drive one. I know it'll be difficult to gauge but for those with a 450, how reactive is the acceleration? I know the EQ Boost is supposed to eliminate the turbo lag so is everything smooth and responsive?

Thanks!

Chuck

IMO, it is smooth and responsive with the virtually no lag. The transmission seems well-suited, too. The GLE 53 with an added electric supercharger is a bit more dynamic, but comes at a price, of course.

A gaggle of MB's
Tell your dealer you want to order the 1st 2022 - yes - Mercedes has 2021 Build-Schedule into 1st Decade July - but heck you could have a 2022 end-August/early Sept.

Down the Road - that 1-2 month "wait" means your GLE is 1yr Younger for future value..

Caveat emptor, buyer beware. Read all of the posts on this section about the 48V system. If you don’t mind spending money on beta hardware, proceed. If participating in a beta test is not your preference, look elsewhere or wait until the beta test is over.

While a few have had battery issues, I think the system is well-engineered and reliable for the vast majority. Hardly Beta testing.

I've read quite a number of posts on this site and appreciate everyone that has provided insight not only on this post but all posts. For me to buy one, it has come down to two issues: the performance and the Burmester audio system. I'm not as hesitate now in regards to the performance aspect. I am still conflicted on the premium Burmester system and the poor bass response. I would imagine the GLC we just got will have a very similar sounding audio system as compared to the GLE I have planned, build sheet attached. The Sony system in my Explorer has much better sound and I am partial to great sound in my vehicles. It could very well come down to not buying a GLE due to the audio system.

I just got my 2021 GLE 450 with the Burmeister with surround and it's OK, not great. Seems highly dependent on the quality of the source material and can range from soso to good. I haven't had any issues with bass level. Still having said all that, if that is your prime concern just remember that if you don't like the sound now, you're likely not going to like it later as well and maybe less so. I'm having a blast with the GLE 450 so far.
