GLE53 - soft brakes?

Test drove a GLE53 and man, those brakes felt like they couldn’t stop the car. Our 2020 GLE350 has much better grip between the brake pedal and caliper - anyone else get a similar sensation from the GLE53 standard brakes?

Makes me wonder if the $2500 brake option is worth considering.

How many miles were on the car? New brakes don't work very well, until they have been bedded in. It takes several stops from speed to get them up to some level of performance. A hundred miles or more to flatten the pads and bed in.

Performance brakes need even more attention to bedding in.
Bigger brakes are almost always welcome, but if you don't use "as intended" from time to time, they will squeak and grab. (It's just their reminder for you to get out and have the fun you paid for!)

I had those brakes on my 2020 GLE 450 and thought they worked well. The AMG package on the 450 had the same brakes and they would be the same on the 2020 AMG 350...I’m almost certain. The upgraded 53 brakes are a lot better...but while spending another $2500 might consider the Dynamic Plus Pkg. The Active Ride Control suspension improves the vehicle a lot and includes the brakes...$5200 when I purchased a few months ago.

Mikapen is exactly right.

The owner's manual clearly states the brakes when new or replaced may require extra pressure for the first few hundred miles in order to break them in. So, I guess that's why they feel soft to you.
