Hard wiring a CTEK 5.0 Charger under hood on 2021 GLE 450

I have a 2021 GLE 450 just picked up a couple of days ago.

Has anyone been able to hardwire the CTEK 5.0 charger to the posts under the hood? The positive post is under the red slide cover. Was wondering if there was some way of attaching the positive eyelet to that positive post and then find something nearby on the chassis to attach the negative eyelet? Then, where do you attach the charger itself? With the alligator clip on the positive post, it sticks up even when you attach the clip from the end.

Just thought had anyone permanently installed this charger using the eyelets so all one has to do is pull the plug out and plug it in rather than having to attach everything every time you want to charge? I found too I have to leave the hood open because it's tight. Right now, I'm just laying the charger next to the positive posts in the drain tray. I'm in a garage but you couldn't do this if it was outside and raining.

Any opinions on this?

I can’t answer your question but wonder why you need it. Does your car sit for months without driving? The car starts using the 48 volt Lithium battery that should hold a charge for a long time.

I guess I always had a charger built in under the hood like I had in my E550.
There is a chance this winter we may fly down from Canada to our property. If that happens, the car would be sitting for 5 months in the garage. Need a charger then.

I hardwired a 12V Anderson plug to mine to make it more universal. I use it for a compressor, inflator, battery charger, and solar panel which do not all run on a low amp 12V cig lighter plug.

I haven't done it yet on the new car, but in the past I have connected a Battery Tender (Deltran) adapter to the battery points under the hood, then run the end out to the grille. Battery Tender uses "SAE connectors" which, like the Anderson above, are widely used in RV solar applications. They can be found at Battery Tender (wide variety) or universally online, in lots of wire gauges.
I wouldn't try to mount the charger itself under the hood - just the wiring. https://www.deltran-global.com/Ring-Terminal-Harness
