Cargo Compartment Cover & Build Quality (trunk)

Hello!

I have two quick question for all you knowledgeable MB-folks here regarding my 2020 GLE350.

1) I know this may sound really strange - and to some degree stupid - but could someone explain to me the function of the cargo compartment cover's latch, please? The two latch parts (labeled "1" and "2") shown in the picture (one close to the handle, one fixed to the plastic body of the cargo cover roll) don't seem to "click" into each other. The protruding flap will always fall down, not staying up. So the "male" and "female" part of the latch (if it is one) don't really seem to fit. I guess I am doing something wrong or expecting the wrong thing to happen. Also, what's the sliding clip (labeled "3") for that is part of the fixture near the handle? It seems to be supposed to clip into something, I just cannot find into what.

2) Please have a look at the pictures showing the right side of my trunk, when it's opened. There is quite a gap and play between the upper part of the bumper that extends under the cargo door and the rubber pads on which the cargo door rests. It also seems that the entire bumper is quite "moveable". It';s the same on both sides and I am wondering if you have a similar quality appearance of this area or if something is loose on my car.

Thank you all,

Chris

It appears you have the unit upside down. With the latch (2) on the bottom, the flap will stay up.

That is a rather large gap - mine is much smaller and my bumper cover does not seem movable.

Thank you for pointing out the incorrectly mounted cover. It works now.

And I will have MB have a look at the bumper.

Thanks again!
