MBUX previous folder/map in USB
I have the base burmester system and although I can play music from usb - search - folder(e.g. music) - subfolder(e.g. artist/genre) - songs, the way to get there is very cumbersome...and everytime you want to go back to the previous folder, you have to go again to search - folder -subfolder, rater than just go back one folder. Has anybody found a simpler way to navigate this using maps/folders? My music folder has many subfolders and each subfolder has again potentially 10's of subfolders... My folders are in alphabetical order and I cannot quickly go to e.g. folders starting with a letter, as you can in the other search options, as a result if I want to play a folder starting with "T" I have to use the touchpad to scroll (raising hand and swipe down every couple of folders) which takes a very long time(100's of folders) and requires a lot of attention i.e. not possible during driving. Going to previous folder level would already help, because now if I want to go back and play from a folder with "S", I have to start from "A" again and scroll, scroll, scroll....
Thanks,
Yveke.
It actually works pretty well except I wish the letters were a little larger.
Yes, when using lists except for folders you get the alphabet, at least I do not get any letters when in folder view? Challenge is that I do not have excellent tagging for my flacs, and my collection is so large that I organized some "collections" into folders by type of music e.g. blues, lounge, dance, etc... This way it is normally easy to go to the folder of ype of music I want and then navigate via the "directory" structure...but without being able to quickly go back to previous folder or to be able to go the folder I want quickly via the start menu, it is quite cumbersome. Would love to have the interface allow a more "classic" navigation, as is the case with most Hifi home streamers.
Thanks again for your input and,
Kindest regards,
Yveke
Being said, I would look at some great freeware tagging programs. I like MP3TAG for Windows. You can open folders and even folders with sub folders. You can Select All, make the change you want, and Save. It will rewrite the changes in all of the files in their original locations.
If I was going to make any changes to the current Burmester screen, it would be to make those letters a little larger, but even if you press S instead of T, you can either correct your choice or scroll from there, but at least you are in the area rather then starting to scroll from A.
Knowing what Tags the Burmester reads, is should be easy to make some tag changes to make your searches better, even if you just loaded your folder "blues" and changed all of the Genre to Blues.
Enjoy the weekend!

I think my problem is that all my thumb drives are in folders, and the head unit will play a folder, then replay when it gets to the end, even if it's one tune.
Yes, I can search for type of music, and play all of that type, or I can search for artists, and play all of that artist (or composer, or keyword).
BUT if I just want to play EVERYTHING and Randomize it, I think I will need to load my libraries without folders. I am not sure how to do that. I use I-Tunes, Tixati, Audacity and Microsoft Media Player, but everything seems to end up in folders. Even building Playlists and ripping doesn't make a thumb drive (or SD card) without folders.
I am OK with letting the MBUX sort my tunes - it just doesn't like folders IMO.
But I'm probably missing a basic concept.

Or I may be totally wrong - I'm a bit baffled as updates occur and change things.
