Stuck in 1st gear
Hey All,
When I'm stopped and start to drive off the rpms shoot up as its stuck in 1st gear. Sometimes i have to manually shift up and sometimes it just catches itself. Really annoying, wondering if anyone else has this issue. I saw post about downshifting issues but none like my issue.

Work on a good description so your Service Department has input to analyze.

I had that on a new W164, and it was dirt in the 3rd gear valve body, replaced under warranty at a few hundred miles. Lasted until we traded at 87,000 miles with lots of towing miles.

No false neutrals
just revs high from stop position. At a stop then push a little heavy on the gas when im moving and the engine just revs high before hitting second. Even happens sometimes if im light on the gas.
