It took me about 30-40 minutes using a USB C thumb drive with ex-fat format, using the port in central console. I did turn off the car half way for a quick shopping trip.
The good thing is that it will resume where it left off when you start the car back up, so I just left it plug in until its finish.

Trying to access these latest maps. Unfortunately, I get an error when I open the web page.

I get that, too, but if I wait for my Internet connection to catch up, it moves to the next screen after a few seconds, sometimes 30 seconds.
I often have poor internet.

Hmmm, sadly my internet is fast, and the error never clears up. Willing to just leave it open for a while, though, to see if it does 'wake up'. Thanks for the reply.

EDIT: And interesting enough, the 'error ID' is different this time. huh...

It's strange.
The online "customer experience" has ranged from Strange to Awful ever since they changed from Mercedes Me, to Mercedes Me Connect, or about that time frame.
It doesn't seem to be a focus for M-B, but it should be.

I just refresh my screen, wait, or give up for the day.

Perhaps it was down earlier, but I'm not seeing any errors. Comes up fine for me in Chrome. Try clearing cookies and your browser cache if it still errors out.

OTA only updates the selected region you specified (one region). For the rest of the map (and voice data), it has to be done manually.

Also, received an e-mail today stating that my services will be expiring in a month and it's time to renew. Not going down the road of I why it has to be this way; just don't understand a couple of things.
1. Navigation is $30/year, or $550 for lifetime. Why would I spend $550? Not planning to keep the vehicle for another 18 years - .
2. Map updates is $40. My data card shows "free map data updates for 3 years" I have 2022 GLE. Anyone else have this issue? Is this actually something different?

1. That's two different things. The $550 option is for the navigation system itself and only applicable if not already optioned from the factory. The annual subscription is for add-on services such as searching online POIs etc. it's listed if you click on Details.

2. That's a print error. Used to be 3 years, but with MY21 or 22, don't remember exactly, they somewhat quietly reduced the complementary services to 1 year.

For the entire North America. I just did a manual update for the entire US.
It is possible that they are doing a rolling update?

We keep seeing posts that voice instructions are only updated with a manual update.

I don't have any way to verify this, but I do wonder why this would be true.

I'll bet that most people never change their home region or do manual updates, so does that mean their voice instructions are locked into their purchase date?

Or is this just information from previous head units and no longer true?

Before they redesigned the map update page on their website, there was a clear disclaimer saying that the voice command update requires a manual update. Main reason I'm guessing was size as the voice update file was quite large. I don't know if they changed the OTA update since then, but I did notice it has gotten significantly slower and takes a lot longer to install than it used to. So much that I now make a point to manually update, because it's much faster. If the OTA update is already in progress I cancel it and proceed with the manual update.

To verify if the voice command was updated just check the map versions in the car. The voice command is listed there with its version number. I'm not entirely sure what this voice command update contains. It seems to be tied to navigation, so it probably contains data to understand new street names and such, but it also seems to add new commands. I remember that when I first got my car some commands didn't work and in general the voice command system had trouble understanding me. After a few map updates it noticeably improved.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I've never noticed a voice version, but that doesn't mean it's not there!

Regarding the improved understanding of voice commands, a lot of that comes from the conversational nature and adaptability of the mbux. I think.

At first I had trouble changing from "enter destination" to "take me to...." (I'm back and forth between my 2019 GLC and the 21 GLE.)
But after a couple of weeks of 'learning' 'teaching,' I can now say "enter destination" and it understands me.

That seemed to happen a lot faster than the next update.

I'm specifically referring to COMAND NTG 5.5 and not MBUX. I have the former in my car. I know the voice command system in MBUX learns and also has an online component. Like with Siri and Google Assistant, certain commands are processed online and not on the device itself.

You are correct. I have manually downloaded 23+ GB updates for the country.

For me, the region I selected was automatically updated OTA (which is how I find out the new release).
But for everywhere else, I have to manually update it.
