A couple of dealers in So Cal answered my emails. One said that GLE 350s are sold above MSRP, the other said the most discount for 2021 GLE 580 is $500 off.
I know that now is the sellers market, so probably will wait at least until 2022s arrive.

That's a gamble.
You might see some significant price increases, since most materials and components are rising in price. We'll have to wait and see.
Good luck.

Good point. I didn't think of the possibility of price increases. Thanks!

2021 GLE 450
Ordered a 2021 GLE 450 in January and finally got it 3 weeks ago. Got 7% off MSRP which is what the dealer offered when I ordered it and they honored it when I picked it up the end of May. Got connected to the dealer via a car buying service similar to what Costco uses. I think if I had waited until now I would have paid above MSRP. I live in SoCal.

Would you mind sharing the dealer and sales person?

2021 GLE53 AMG
I've been talking with 3 South FL dealerships lately. I was originally looking to move from my 2020 GLE 350 to a 450 (I missed the pep of my previous CLS), but couldn't find anything local to test drive. Everyone was saying there "should" be more in by late July or August. I decided to drive over to a dealership yesterday while I was in the area. They didn't have any 450's, but they had a couple G's marked with $30K and $50K over sticker and a GLE 53 marked $10K over.

I was checking out the 53 when the guy said he would pull it out of the showroom for a test drive. I almost said no, but figured what the heck and test drove it. I ended up driving it home lol. $2K off the sticker price as opposed to $10K over.

That's the way to do it.
Go there, make sure they know you're a BUYER, and make your deal.
All the back and forth chit-chat from a distance, or multiple "I got $12,000 off" claims does nothing to get a deal.
Be a Buyer, not a talker.

I guess there are enough suckers out there that would pay those prices. Time to let the post-Covid normalcy return to automotive manufacturing before visiting at least in Southern Cal.
I just called the Newport Beach location on a 2022 AMG GLE 53 coupe it’s a $35,000 dollar charge on top of the MSRP.
i’ll keep driving my 2017 GLE 43

You might try making a bona fide offer. You might just end up with it in your garage.

Old adage in the Car Biz - "Money talks, Lookers walk." Convince them you're more than a Looker, especially these days.

MBUSA per se does not mark up over MSRP. Pricing is set by individual dealers who may choose to discount, sell at list or mark up over list. All determined by what the market will bear. My dealer sold a G wagon for $50K over list. Would have been more if it had been an AMG. Somebody was willing to pay it and, as I remarked to my rep (who did not sell the vehicle), somebody on the sales staff is going to have a great vacation. But he pointed out that they would much prefer to have a steady stream of vehicles and deal with lower margins and higher volume than be constrained. Particularly in high end vehicles, transactions are relational. They want repeat business and do not want to irritate their customers to the extent that when supplies do return to normal, the customer is left with a bad taste over prior dealer policies. For that reason, there are dealers who in this market-- and not just MB dealers-- are selling at list taking a much longer view of business rather than the short-sighted command over list. Then there are dealers in such affluent markets where $10K, $25K, etc markups really mean nothing to the buyer. I am just so thankful that I ordered my car in June 2020 and it arrived Oct 2020. By Oct 2020 my dealer was discounting GLE's by $1000 tops. But because he committed a price to me, because I am a repeat customer and because I already started talking about the next car as soon as he put the order into Netstar, he honored the price at slightly below invoice.

I picked up my brand new 2022 Amg Gle 53 yesterday and was speaking to someone at the dealership. He had told me that the amg v8 factory is going through some issues of some kind(I do not recall 100% what the reason was,I was a bit over joyed by picking up my new car ) but the amg g class will most likely skip a year and that they will be selling 75-100k over 😲 due to the high demand .. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Another aspect to treating transactions as relational and selling at MSRP when others are managing to get away with big mark-ups is that you want them not just for repeat business but for servicing. If I have a good buying experience with a dealership I favor giving them all of my servicing business, which over time is typically a bigger source of profit than sales.

A gaggle of MB's
For the Very Limited GLE Inventory on-the-ground now and to be delivered in Dec. - todays "Market Adjustment" (the Over-MSRP Part) - for GLE350's in most markets is $5,000-$7,500

As Production continues to decline in total # - the Market Adjustment for GLE's ordered-to-be-built thru March at those same "most" dealers is $5,000-$7,500

New Car Production is NOT expected to recover/grow until AT BEST 2023 model year.

It's supply chain disruption for core materials - steel, aluminum, plastics - and chip restriction is not the limiting bump now expect on certain specific features.

I'm in Southern California, and I see $1500 markups on GLE 350 ( just one dealer near me). I didn't talk to them, so there may be additional markups, but on the window sticker it only shows $1500. Just FYI
