MSRP Discount

I was only able to get 2% for my 450 from my local dealer when I ordered about 2 months ago but originally they only offered $500. I called around to other dealers and one offered me a discount that my local dealer matched

I received 7.5% off MSRP on a 2021 GLE 350 that I took out of inventory. The discount would have been less for an ordered vehicle. The car was fresh, just arrived at dealership 6 days prior to the purchase. Also, a major variable is if you are trading in another vehicle that you own. The dealer may lead you to believe that he is giving you a great discount, however, on the other side of the deal he is trying to steal your trade in. BTW, resale value of used vehicles are currently through the roof. Good luck

This makes sense. This is the most undersupplied MB SUV market in my lifetime, especially for 6/8 cylinder engines. Why would they discount at all given unparallel demand vs. supply imbalance?
Of course it may vary by dealer/region, but my local dealer has less than 50% of "normal" new inventory on the lot (not counting those classified as "on the way") and they offer no loners now - all GLC/GLB (and most C) courtesy fleet is for sale as "used" inventory.

I did a custom order GLE 350 back in October 2020 which came out to $63,495 and the total discount was $9,305.67. Take out the PPM my discount came out to $7,665.67 or about a little over 12% The reason mine is higher than normal is because it includes the pre-paid maintenance that MB Corporate gave me because they could not tell me the status of my ordered GLE and it was delayed about 3 months.
On a side note I am in Florida and there are a lot of dealerships within about a 1 hour radius from me.

^^^Well it is a different auto (and housing) world now than was in October of 2020. As one can not get hou$ing anywhere near of what the same house was going for then, same (supply vs. demand) applies to cars in general and especially MB specifically.

The market has not changed that much in 3 months. Additionally, it depends on the area when it comes to finding deals regarding both auto and housing (example, NY will be completely different than FL, which will be completely different from CA, etc.). Usually it is doable to get 10%-15% discount on this class of vehicle (excluding AMG models) and I never had a problem getting that, even in this market when it comes to Mercedes. But I am aware that people in areas with less dealerships and less access to inventory, they will end up paying more.

Market did change in the last 3-4 months in FL (I am in your neck of woods assuming 727 is your area code). OP posted on 5/31 - it is a different market now. My closest dealer's inventory is about 50% of "normal" and they have no loners because practically all their courtesy cars are for sale as "used".

Just visited the largest MB dealership in Southern California (Newport Beach). The real estate price explosion has hit the MB dealers!! Every single GLE on the lot had an add-on dealer markup of $5000 for the 350 to up to $25,000 the AMG 53. GLS AMG $40,000. Nice little stickers on each of the windshields. All other models had similar "opportunity to buy" stickers. GT 53 -- $40,000. Maybach $75,000. At another dealership locally both new G series had a $75,000 and $95,000 mark ups on stickers of $160K+ and $190K+, respectively. I guess there are enough suckers out there that would pay those prices. Time to let the post-Covid normalcy return to automotive manufacturing before visiting at least in Southern Cal.
