Where are people getting extended warranty for the GLE580 specifically? It is not the same as a 350,450,etc.
Thanks!
Do you mean to tell us your phone doesn't ring all day long with extended warranty offers? That was just a joke. The extended warranties are sold by the dealers at a high profit but the insurers are third parties who could care less about you. Those policies are written by lawyers so make sure you read what they don't cover. Batteries are one example of parts they don't cover. They also don't cover any item under warranty that fails due to a part the is not covered. For example, a radiator/water pump/ hose leak causes the engine block to crack. The engine repair will not be covered because the warranty does not cover hoses, radiators, or water pumps. Whenever the third party has to pay for a repair the dealer has to obtain approval before proceeding from someone whose job is to find a way to not pay.

That may be true for some, but not all Service Contracts. They are not "Warranties," they are Insurance Policies. Just like any Insurance, you are paying an entity (Insurance Company) to Share a portion of the risk.
So it's important to see just what portion of the risk they are sharing.
"Inclusionary" policies cover less (generally speaking) because only what's Included is covered.
"Exclusionary" policies cover everything that's not Excluded, which covers more, are easier to understand, and are more expensive. Gernerally.
Prior approval may or may not be a feature of the Policy you are considering. It's a good idea to talk to a Shop or two to see if they have had good experience with the one you are looking at.
