The 580 has the active exhaust set up, but I don't see any way to control it like we could on our GLC63. Anyone have any ideas? Pics are taken from another thread.
It would be nice to figure this out. I have a '21 GLE 450 with the AMG package and have yet to figure out how this "flap" works. I cant really tell if putting it in "sport" mode does anything or not but would also like to know the MBUSA specifications sheets say the 450 with AMG package and the 580 should have a "Sport Exhaust System"...I just cant figure it out. I'm wondering if it's not so much as sound but more about breathing when it's in spot mode so the engine breaths better. I could be reaching though. I attached a photo of mbusa's website side by side. of the 580 and 450.

Just as significant as the photos are the words "The acoustics can be adjusted via DYNAMIC SELECT".
Maybe it is "adjustable" only by the vehicle electronics rather than by the driver via a separate switch like I had on the GT S and other models. On my CLS53 there is a definite change for the better in the exhaust note when switching to Sport or Sport+ but there is no separate switch or control for only the exhaust sound. I'm not sure if there is a baffle that opens or if this is accomplished by another means. Some have suggested it is only via a synthesized sound through the audio system. I've not looked for a valve as pictured in the first post.
I can’t speak to the 450 (my previous GLE was a 350), but my new 53 has a significant change in exhaust sound when put in Sport+. However, I don’t think that’s comparing apples to apples since there is a switch (in 2 places actually) that allows me to change the exhaust in any mode.
I am familiar with the active/sport/dynamic exhaust and sound difference as I had one on my GLC63. However, I just can't figure this out. I just went to the vehicle and confirmed under any settings, the sound does not change.

Hmm. The current "Vehicle Features" for the 2021 GLE580 lists the "Dynamic Select" feature for the exhaust (although it is not obvious that this can be controlled manually via a switch.) Is it possible that this was added in 2021 and the 2020 models did not have this? Do you have a listing of your vehicle configuration or do you recall that this feature was indeed specified for your 2020?

No, I do not have a list from the dealer as we purchased it used with 9k miles.

Same here on my 53. In the console, and I also have programmed it on one of the AMG buttons on the steering wheel.

Hi I have a 2021 GLE 450 as well an while it says we have sport exhausts, I don't think we have the active or variable exhaust. I haven't looked below mine but I thought there would be a setting for it in MBUX if active

The Sport Exhaust on the 450 is active (at least in the US for 2020); Here is a pic of one of the actuators. I believe it opens in Sport and Sport+ modes.

On the 580 there is not a "sport" or "sport +" option that I am aware. Only dynamic select.

On my 450 SUV I use my dynamic select to set the sport mode and that activates the sport exhaust. I have the Acoustic Comfort Package and can't notice a difference when in sport mode.
There is no Sport+ on the 450 with the AMG exterior. I can't really tell the difference in regards to exhaust sound on Comfort vs Sport.
I wish there were more aftermarket exhaust options for the 450 to give it a bit more sound. Only one I saw was the Armytrix product.
So here’s shot under my 2021 GLE 450. I the actuator is there in the upper right hand corner. I drove with window open and tried to compare sport vs comfort and echo and it all pretty much sounded the same. Very curious on this one.

Yup, that is what our/and the rest of the people here is questioning. I have yet to hear a sound difference and have tried multiple settings. As stated before, It is a considerable difference based on when we had the GLC63.
“Küster” is stamped on the side of mine and they supposedly make auto actuators, so it’s got to do something. I can’t see a part number anywhere unless I peel back the wheel well “carpet” for a better look.
Here's a photo of the switch on the center console next to the driver's right leg. The switch is used to select ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, SPORT+ and INDIVIDUAL.

That's what I have on my GLE450 and it selects between ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, and INDIVIDUAL.
Yup same switch on the 450 with AMG exterior and zero difference in sound between sport and comfort.
Perhaps hardware is there and just software locked?
