2020 GLE Oil Change DIY
#28
Being one of those guys who "must" change their own engine oil, first I read everything I could find about the oil change. I found some videos, but none that were really true. I figured out the cover under the car, really easy to remove, and found the drain plug, no plastic drip pan. The oil filter was not really easy because of the air intake, so I moved them out of the way. The oil filter came out and I swapped filter and o'rings, not hard at all. Then, installing the oil filter, which did not line up at first going down into the engine. I slowly rotated the complete unit and it feel into place. In my GLE 350, 2021 owners manual, it does not say how much oil should go in. I read 7 liters or 7 1/2 quarts of 5W40 oil, which is the same amount, on different sites. The oil I drained was carefully measured. It came out to 6.8 liters. I poured in 7 liters. All is perfect. Next is changing the air filter. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the head up guys, that $1879 for an "a" Service sounded all wrong. I been doing my own oil changes on all 4 Mercedes I ever owned. this will be the first one I'll have to do the old way of changing oil again and I'm not looking forward to it. I have been using MityVac fluid extractor for years. Oh well, What are you guys using for drain pans to keep everything neat and clean now for this operation?
