I'm not filing a claim for the repairs. I just switched insurance companies recently and will be adding another new driver in 8 months which will bring my total under 25 drivers to 2. I can't take the risk of an increase with two kids driving and needing to be carried on two expensive cars and the two cars they drive.

I was able to source all the OEM parts at a considerable savings, I'm having the repair done locally, also at a considerable savings, Peter (BenzNinja) will recode them and if I still have issues at that point, I can take it my dealer and they can figure the rest out using my warranty.

I have been frustrated for years with wheel and tire issues on these cars, this has been far worse than that.

I've never had my rates go up after a comprehensive claim. Most recently a windshield for my GLE 450.

Lol. I've heard that about fifty eleven times. This isn't a windshield. This is a $4000 repair using brand new OEM parts and paying dealership labor.

Nothing may happen but it's a risk vs. reward situation for me. But I can't go back and un-make the claim. I'd rather pay the $1000 and recoup maybe $100 or $200 reselling the damaged lamp on eBay. That puts me at paying $2-300 more than my comp deductible. I live in Michigan where insurance rates are already outrageous, its just not worth it to me to roll the dice with a new company and two teen drivers.
