2022 GLE53 AMG Coupe Order delayed

Hi all,

new to MB from Porsche and need help to find out the release date of my GLE53 AMG Coupe 2022.

I placed my order in May 2021, my car was built mid September and finished by Sept 30, now the status says VPC delay. After long negotiations with the dealer, we found out that MB is holding the car till an unknown release date. Does anyone know when MB will release the 2022 GLE53 AMG coupe? Or is this the dealership is stalling and want me to cancel the purchase because they have committed themselves to an MSRP for cash purchase to me way before dealers started marking up the GLE53’s?

any help will be appreciated

thanks

Your dealer should be able to tell you the "official" release date. If not, reach out to MB customer service.

I tried to reach a few other dealers in the area who actually have listed 22's in their website and anticipate Nov arrival. so I'm not sure what to believe anymore

Same thing happened to me years ago. The S63 coupe was a new model. I picked mine up in Europe and was told it was the first one manufactured for the US. I leave Germany, my car goes to the port and arrives at the Brunswick VPC. It sat there for 6 weeks until the S coupes were released and dealers had demos. My car was built and delivered on Oct 8, but I didn't drive it until Thanksgiving of that year.

Same thing happened to me. My 2022 GLE53 was built on 9/28 and I was told by the dealer that the car is being held at VPC. They said they contacted MB corporate and were told the GLE AMG is being held until official release (whatever that means). It's been over a month and still no update. I am also seeing 2022 GLE53's on dealer websites at this point. It is getting very frustrating. I have no idea when customer orders are supposed to come in. And I find it pretty surprising that dealers don't know when their customer's order are to be delivered. New normal I guess.

Was there any delay with your order? Was it held at VPC at all? Just trying to get a sense of what others are going through with regards to delivery.

No delays at all. In fact the GLE was built about seven days ahead of production schedule. Hopefully, your issue will be resolved soon.

Yea seems like the 350s and 450s are being shipped out first. No idea why they're holding the 53s. Also, heard rumors that they are prioritizing chips for the new S-class since those are their high profit margin vehicles. But I'm sure that's just people speculating why orders are all messed up. I'm sure MB has their reasons and unfortunately customers and dealers seem to be left in the dark.

Contact MB Corporate and try to get an answer from them and they may give you prepaid maintenance if you make a big enough stink about it (I did for mine, no shame). When I had to go through this for my GLE 350, I sent an email to the following emails:

Dimitris.Psillakis@mbusa.com
christian.treiber@mbusa.com
nicholas.speeks@mbusa.com
mercedes_benz@mailca.custhelp.com

I think one or two of them may be inactive but I still sent it them anyway just in case. You should get a response within 24-36 hours. If you go that route try to get everything in writing, including if they are giving you free pre-paid maintenance. Also if memory serves correctly, they will be sure to notify you multiple times that you are on a recorded line (if you speak with them).

This is what I was told when chatting with MBUSA. They don't even know until Daimler tells them something.

"each model built has an anticipated launch time, with most for this quarter and some into next year"

Great...that's reassuring

MB is most likely not releasing the 53 variants of GLE's yet compared to regular 350/450/580 non-AMG variants. While it is annoying, you are likely very close to a release and will just have to wait a bit longer. A quick search of autotrader shows every GLE53 to have a stock image meaning dealers are also waiting on cars and simply listed future available inventory despite not actually having it. This is not too unusual, as even with the current S-Class (W223), MB just about over a week ago released '22 S500's to dealers, however S580's are still awaiting release at the port.

Yeah I'm going through the same frustration. I got to the point of calling dealers who have listed the 2022's in their website to see if they actually have them but none of them does. ugh

I think that means the vehicle is released to the carrier. Did he tell you what the netstar code was, D5 maybe? Meaning it probably won't be long until it is shipped to the dealer. Looks like you're getting close.

It should be ready to leave the port I believe. My dealer is getting 3 GLE Coupes this weekend so yours should hopefully be arriving soon!

Mine was a priority 1 as well. Guess that didn’t really mean much because it was delayed anyway sitting at VPC. Hope we start getting our orders sooner than later.

My dealer is only 30-minutes from the Baltimore port so everything for them is quick and not too expensive, and when they need things even quicker they send their employees to personally pick up cars.

does MB have a loyalty program that saves 1% or so from MSRP?
