GLE53 Tuning?
Haven't seen or heard much regarding tuning a GLE53. I know Brabus has a tune and I've heard that is very pricey. Has anyone here looked into tuning their 53? What are our options for tuning? Not sure how much I trust plug and play products from the internet.

With a tune the GLE53 would pretty much turn into a GLE53S which makes me wish Mercedes would have just offered a more powerful version of the 53. But I bet that would eat into the 63 sales. If a 500-something HP GLE was available it would be less likely that buyers would go for the 63 since it really is overkill (unless you really want the top dog or want a V8). But then again if you wanted a V8 you had the choice of a 580. Anyway, Brabus being a reputable company would definitely make them a first choice in tuning especially since there aren't really any other options. I just got my 53 and have only clocked 200 miles so I haven't even experienced it at its full potential in stock form.

As I recall there are 2-3 more that replace or tune the ECU, a better solution but maybe not as easy to unwind as removing the Chip Tune hardware. Once again…”as I recall”, one offered some type of engine warranty although I question how easy it would be to collect.
Personally I prefer an ECU tune but the risk is that you might have an expensive engine repair if something goes wrong. 70 ponies would make the GLE 53 a beast.

I did read some warnings out on the internet from one of the tuners about highly recommending that you upgrade the stock turbo as it seems to be prone to fail, or at least they know about some failures when the engine is tuned. I'm very hesitant to change it from stock without seeing a lot more evidence of how it performs in the real world.

Renntech was the tuner that mentioned it. It's the cls page but it is the m256 engine like the current GLE 53. At least it appears that way. Maybe the turbo is different from the cls on the gle? Dunno. Might stop by their shop next year when I'm down that way and chat them up for details.

For sure, definitely want to wait for some real world data on some tunes. Would love to get 500+ HP on the 53. Apparently he got 4.4 seconds to 60 in that video. That is some speed for this large of a vehicle.

I get under 5.3 with my 53 SUV at 5,000 ft elevation and too much gear in the back.
From what I've seen in reports, under 5.3 seems to be the norm for stock.
But I've also seen that it's on the slow side for its segment.
More power would be fun, and maybe even safer in some situations. But it'd probably just get me in trouble.
