I found MB’s V8 problem.

Well I finally got my service appointment today and I dropped the car off this morning. While waiting this last month, we have went on several trips and had a lot more than usual highway driving. I was about 1k past my service, according to the car, but it had to wait till today.
So now I’ll say this, if MB doesn’t know about the vibration and CELs in the GLE580, they are idiots.
I did ask to have someone ride with me so I could specifically point out the problem but was told there were no ride alongs now because of the………you know the thing. Let’s see what happens.

Some of the past. ’13 CTS V Wagon, ‘15 GL550. ‘17 GLS550. Current: ‘20 GLE580.

Its interesting because they still sell V8s in other parts of the world, only US is suspended

No V8s at all in Canada except the S580. I am not aware of any other country still getting V8s other than the S580 in Mercedes models.

I’ve been a little busy lately, and enjoying our once in a decade snow, so I haven’t been on here but my car is still in the service department. About 8 days now. So I’ll say this, if you buy a 580 (in any model) you get what you deserve or deserve what you get.
What I have observed is, the longer I stand in the service department and chit chat, the friendlier people get. I’m pretty sure MB knows they have a quality problem with this specific motor. I’ve been told that they have had other similar problems with this motor.
Lets wait and see what happens.

Sigh, so my ECL light came on again this afternoon... Have an appointment in the AM tomorrow to see what is up. I must have chosen the wrong dealership (Avondale in Grapevine, TX) as they have no loaners until March 3rd. Is that kind of experience common? Would not have expected a Mercedes dealership of any kind to be unable to provide a loaner inside of 10 days. Have a road trip starting the 28th, so hope they can either correct the issue or come up with a vehicle.

Well, my service appointment is at 11:30, had another appointment at 9:30, and drove there with the ECL light on. When I left that meeting at 10:15 the ECL light was no out... Hope the service tech can help me understand if it is a dangerous issue or just an annoyance...
