Scratches on Windshield

So I have some scratches on my 2021 GLE450. They don't bother me much but I will get it dealt with before selling or trading. Does anyone know if there is a place that might BUFF them out or is it strictly replacement? Safelite quoted me $3000 while the dealer is at $1300. These are light scratches from an abrasive sponge. You can't feel them on the glass...

Following this thread... my E450 wagon has them as well... I tried polishing with toothpaste, which did nothing.

Take it to a reputable detailer. If these are superficial scratches they should be able to polish those out for a fraction of what dealer is quoting you. This should cost no more than $200-$300.

Cheers,

Since the alternative is replacement you might first try one these.
1. Use a scratch remover product, (https://products.bestreviews.com/bes...scratch-repair)
2. If that doesn’t work try Emory sand paper (with water) in the finest grit available…maybe around 7,000 and then a scratch remover.
Test a small obscure area first to make sure you don’t make it worse. Mercedes glass seems to be more scratch/rock Chip prone than glass on other cars I’ve owned.

There are glass/windshield polishing products available. If you have your own orbital polisher, you can probably make a noticeable improvement yourself with the right polish and pad. I've done it myself in the past, and I continue to use the pad and polish to keep my glass cooktop looking good.
