Has the year 2022 GLE been “de-contented?”

Just picked up a Cirrus Silver GLE350. Great so far….but noticed that there seems to no longer be a way to activate seat kinetics on the passenger side? I’ve really enjoyed this feature, as did my passengers on other MBs. Has this feature been eliminated….only on the passenger side for 2022? I have 4 way lumbar on both driver and passenger sides. The memory seat function is on the driver’s side only.

Seat kinetics is linked to the memory seat option so that means you only have it on the driver’s side/

Broadly speaking, carmakers have been changing option content at their discretion to maximize their profit. This is driven by component availability, especially semiconductors. This will continue into 2024.

Some companies are loading up vehicle content and curtailing low content vehicles. This maximizes the selling price on average. Other companies can choose to strip out options based on component availability to maximize unit volume. Porsche did this with Cayenne electric steering column adjustment, and to owners’ pleasant surprise they have rectified this with a dealer installed solution when the components became available again. Such customer support would be out of character for MB.

MB in particular has been harmed more than most carmakers during the supply shortages. The difference between carmakers on this point is how they have managed the shortage situation. Some have managed better, some (MB) have managed worse.

I have a 3 day old GLE 350 that has kinetics.

What’s your build date?

Built Feb, 2022. Delivered to me on 2/22/22
Only has kinetic on driver’s side. No memory seat on passenger side.

Same with our Feb. 2020. As mentioned in the prior post, it is tied to seat memory…

Not the case here…

From MB:
Good for the back: The new ENERGIZING seat kinetics supports orthopaedic changes in the seating posture by means of minute changes to the inclination of the seat cushions and backrest. The innovation is available for the front seats in combination with all-electric seat adjustment with memory function.

@Wolfman great that it worked out for you. Broadly speaking MB has managed worse than other carmakers as it relates to component availability, with emphasis on semiconductors.

Statistics? Specifics? Comparisons? Just my usual questions for your unfounded statements.
You could just admit they are opinions, not fact. Unless they really are facts, which I personally would like to see. That would make your posts valuable to the forum.
TIA as always.

@mikapen you are a current or former industry insider, correct? Having spent, or spending time working in a dealership? Then you are familiar with the preeminent auto industry forecasters. I refer you to those reports.

Yes I have experience at the Dealership level, never Mercedes, though.
The only US publications that fit the "preeminent auto industry forecasters" moniker are Crain Publications, Automotive News (part of Crain) and Ward's Automotive. They don't report on anecdotal Forum posts, but you could feed them tips. You could become an "Exclusive Source" if they decide one of your stories has merit.
You have a lot of insight in several areas. It's valuable. More of that, please.

@chassis No one wants to argue this claim from above?
