2021 GLE 450
I year report on 2021 GLE 450

I willl have owned the car since May 3/21.

I just completed a 7000 mile winter return trip to AZ . I didn't have one issue with the car at all, in fact I haven't even been to the dealer for anything at all since I picked the car up. It has been flawless.

On the highway, it is a dream to drive, smooth, engine is like silk, quiet and just generally a pleasure to drive. I really like the Nav system. Way better than the old command system. Routes are corrected automatically if I change the route just by going a different way.

I have to say, from time to time I place a small trickle charger on the posts under the hood by my choice not suggested by the dealer. Just a little preventative maintenance on my part.

Yes, every once in a awhile, I'll put a trick charger on the car over night. Now this is on the 450 model with. It just keeps the batteries tuned up.

It doesn't hurt.

Our is one year old 10K miles driven daily with no defective issues to report. Battery has never been externally charged.

You have a 450 model?
you don’t need to do it but sometimes when it sits for awhile, I’ll put a charger on it.

Another good idea is to store your key 100' from the car, since it wakes up and communicates whenever the key is in range.

I don't think that's necessary. The new key fobs enter a sleep mode when they're not moved for a while.

I believe that has changed again, so you don't have to shake your key to wake it up.
I've been asking about this at dealerships, and they agree that the newer keys ('20+?) wake up the car, and keep it awake.

As a test last weekend, I left my key in the garage for two days, and as I was working out there, I heard continual clicking from the car. I took the key away for a day, and the car wasn't clicking the next day.
I also tried the double click on the Lock button, but the clicking continued.

100' isn't cast in stone - just out of range.
