Brand New GLE 53 AMG Engine Light On Second Day

I picked up my brand new 2022 GLE 53 AMG on Thursday April 28,2022 and by the following day I had an Engine light on , happened late Friday , dealership is closed and Saturday the service department was closed , not I’m left wondering what it could be until Monday !! This isn’t a good start at all ! Anyone have an similar experience? Vehicle has less than 180 KM on it !!

Thanks in advance .

That has to be frustrating to experience with a new vehicle. Do you have any idea what caused the engine light to go on? Please update when you hear from the dealer.

I don’t have the faintest idea , I was testing the sports + mode just minutes before the engine light came on though , I wasn’t metal to the pedal by any means but I was pushing it for a good 40 seconds .

I will update when i take it back to dealership.

This place is a joke.
Not an uncommon occurrence with the one-sixty-lemon (167) platform since it's disastrous launch in 2019. No worries though, as the dealerships now have plenty of experience with CEL's on these. As long as the car is running and driving fine, no need to panic, they will get it sorted hopefully on the first attempt. The usual suspects will soon chime in and tell you how great this car is- the best Mercedes' has ever built in their history, and how they don't have any problems. This isn't their truth, as a few of those trolls have already sold or traded theirs for other brands, so take their biased opinions very carefully.

Can you describe the light? What does it say and is it flashing?
Is your gas cap not tight?
You need to provide more information, or the trolls will take over this thread. The usual suspects.

Hope there's not much to it.

You know that you are supposed to take it easy for the first 1000 miles. My manual says take it in as soon as possible.

You drive a Range Rover, why are you even here?
You are also posting here with nothing to contribute or help the o.p. That's getting old. Fast.

You're welcome. Don't be afraid to drive it if needed....provided it's running properly. It's likely an emissions fault. There are also assembly problems still coming from the factory in Alabama such as loose ground wires, electrical connectors not fully plugged in, etc.
I'm sorry the trolls are here already to harass and not help with your question. At least I warned you.

Not exactly the same, but my 2020 GLE450 (built October 2019) had a CEL a couple months after I picked it up, with very low mileage. IIRC dealer said it was something to do with the low pressure fuel pump readings (not the functioning of the pump itself) and didn't affect safety or reliability. I had a several week road trip coming up and they told me it was perfectly fine to take it while they waited for the replacement part to arrive.

It's been rock solid mechanically since then, hoping the same for you.

I have an ML too and I also have a GLE V167 that will be here anytime.

Sorry Pal - you seem upset. Hope you are doing okay.

The general rule is if the light is steady, it's okay to drive. But if it's flashing, don't drive.
I'd call the dealership at least to notify them, and also confirm the not-flashing idea.

Thanks for the advice. I've reported you for harassment and posting off topic. If you can't accept the opinions of others contrary to your own, maybe you shouldn't be participating in a public forum. You've added nothing here to help the o.p. Luckily I warned him about trolls like yourself. Stalk much?
