Which option would you choose?

Hi, in my country, it is possible to buy a GLE COUPE without it being an AMG model. I can buy the "standard" version or the "AMG LINE" version. Both cars have the 400D motor. My question is: The "standard" GLE COUPE have 20" wheels all with 275/50 and the "AMG LINE" version have 21" wheels with 275/45 at the front and 315/40 at the rear. That makes a difference in side wall measure of 5.4 vs 4.9 (9.3%) on front tires and 5.4 vs 5 (7.4%) on rear tires. Being that the roads in my country are far from perfect and potholes can appear all of a sudden, I'm still deciding if the AMG LINE is that worth it to justify the loss in the extra protection I would gain because of the higher side wall measure. Peace of mind in that aspect is very important to me. Would appreciate much your opinions and advise on this matter. Thank you!

Get the 21" option as when you decide to go with it after the fact you will spend close to $8k on the entire set (rim and tires) compared to just $1k option. Just don't drive 60mph hitting a pothole. The tires on the 21" option are not that thin so don't worry about those potholes unless they are like moon craters.

I agree with that approach. I've found that the extra wide 21"-ers straddle the potholes, so there's no impact from hitting the edge of one. Plus, they are V Rated, which gives a stronger sidewall.

The only caution would be to check for winter tire availability, if you fit those in season.

The 21s on the V167 are close to the 20s on the previous W166 version for sidewall height, since all the tire sizes went up (except the 19s).
