New GLE - Any of These Dealer Add-Ons Worth It?
Picking up my new 2022 GLE 350 4matic with AMG appearance/night package at my local dealer within the next week or two. They sent me all of the below. Any of it worthwhile? It will be garage kept, used as a daily driver, and I plan to keep the vehicle for a long time, and have all maintenance done by the dealer. Here's what they sent me below. Thanks in advance!
1) Interior and Exterior Protection
Our customers take pride in driving their new luxury vehicles. The best way to keep your Mercedes-Benz looking like a showroom car is protecting the paint when it is new! To do that, we offer you a great paint and interior protection package. The exterior protection will seal the paint, protecting it against environmental damage caused by acid rain, dust, bird drops, etc. TST is a Teflon coating that is sprayed onto the vehicle and then buffed into the paint. The interior protection will be applied on the seats, carpets, and panels to make sure they stay in top condition. The warranty also covers rips, tears, stains, burns, and dye transfers. Both options come with a 5-year warranty.
Paint protection: $499 plus tax
Interior protection is $499 plus tax
You can get both for $849 plus tax ($149 savings) -> Highly Recommended
This product is our best seller, as it works. Personally I have TST applied to my vehicle and I couldn’t be happier with the appearance and protection that it offers.
2) Vehicle Coverage - Mercedes-Benz Protection - $0 Deductible
Your new vehicle comes with 4 years or 50,000-mile Manufacturer’s Warranty. Due to the high cost of parts and the continuously increasing cost of labor, a significant percentage of our customers like to keep their vehicles under warranty. Below you will have a few options:
5 years or 75,000 miles: $2,450 plus tax
6 years or 75,000 miles: $2,650 plus tax
7 years or 75,000 miles: $2,950 plus tax
7 years or 100,000 miles: $4,000 plus tax
Any of the options above are full coverage for your vehicle (extension of the new car warranty). The coverage is offered by Mercedes-Benz directly and is honored at ANY Mercedes-Benz dealership in the country. Please keep in mind right now the cost of any of these options is the lowest that it will ever be!
3) Appearance Protection Package
Bobby Rahal Motorcar offers a 5-year bundle package that includes:
· Wheel and tire protection against road hazard damage
· Unlimited cosmetic wheel repair
· Roadside assistance with a 45 min or less guarantee
· Key replacement
· Windshield repair
· Paintless dent repair
This Nationwide program has a $0 deductible. The cost for your vehicle is only $1,775 plus tax. (The cost of one wheel and a tire in these vehicles is usually higher that the cost of the 5-year policy)
4) Mercedes-Benz Pre-paid Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz offers you the option to pre-pay (at a discounted price) all the required maintenance for your vehicle. This package can be used at any authorized Mercedes-Benz service center. Service is due every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first. You can purchase up to the first 4 years of maintenance as follows:
2 years or 20,000 miles: $1,200 plus tax
3 years or 30,000 miles: $1,640 plus tax
4 years or 40,000 miles: $2,250 plus tax

#2. You can usually buy these later unless you just want to roll the payment into the financing. But read the fine print about who and where and what products they use for replacements. Like Greg said, you can probably find these cheaper somewhere else.
#3. RUN!! Sounds like it is just specific to Rachael dealerships. Plus most insurances cover windshields anyway. I also just had to fix a dent and paint chip on the E car, that Ive had three years and it only cost me $150 and was done in 45 minutes. Also, most tires have some coverage anyway, especially if you buy another set from somewhere like NTB or tire rack.
#4. I like the prepaid maintenance stuff but you can always buy it before you service it the first time. I bought 3 years for both cars and then can add more before my last service if I want too. Again, if you want to roll the price into the purchase do it now. But I doubt these prices will get any cheaper. If you are concerned about the price here, call the service department and ask what the scheduled maintenance intervals for the car cost right now.
Good luck!
