Extended warranty
I've never purchased an extended warranty before, but on a car this complicated I will. fabbrisd1 told me this about that: "Extended Warranty - make sure the dealer is quoting Mercedes MSRP - dealer has 15% margin on MSRP but "some" dealers often start quote "up" over MSRP.
GLE350/GLE450 - 5-75K/$2200 - 5-100K/$2750 - 6-75K/$2400 - 6-100K/$3000 - 7/75K-$2700 - 7/100K-$3750"
I was just quoted quite a bit higher by my dealer. For those who have purchased this what was your rate. I'm thinking 7/70k.

The ELW New Car Warranty gives you the exact same coverage as the Original New Car Warranty for every yr/mileage level.
The "actual shop value" of ELW has actually gone up where the ELW cost has remained reasonably the same.
I say this as Mercedes CPO warranty now requires every CPO warranty issue to be pre-approved by MBUSA from the dealer service request - and as posted in some other threads on other MB models - Mercedes seemingly has been "tightening" the CPO items that are covered - or at the very least making CPO more cumbersome for the dealer/cumbersome
ELW is same coverage as new car warranty - and that's rock solid with MB.... if it was me - I'd grab all that I could... if you trade or sell your MB within 4yr/50K mile.. the ELW is 100% refundable (4-5 weeks refund process) - if you reach and go into ELW - ELW is refundable (Pro-Rated by time or miles whichever greater) LESS any paid ELW warranty claims. ELW is transferable to private buyer with like $35 MBUSA transfer fee.
On Prepaid Maintenance - depending on your ownership/mileage plan . If you're planning to go out to (or past) 50K - then get 3yrs 10/20/30 1st - then going into/before 40K buy a 2-pack or 3-pack depending on what your revised total mileage plan is - going into there 40K that's a B++ added service & you have 45K/50K spark plugs come up - stuff like that more affordably covered by adding 2-pack/3-pack before 40K for added 40K/50K or 40K/50K/60K

Extended warranty plans
Just found out my dealer financial guy was quoting a 3rd party plan that was 45% more than the MSRP for the factory plan. I can only assume it was because they make more profit on it. This was not explained and I was not in a state of mind to ask. So, not doing that. Got a great contact for discounted plans; PM me if you want.

That contact is Jeff Jackson at Tafel Motors - Tel (502) 894-6829 or email him thru About/Staff Section on their website www.tafelmotors.com
Tafel has intelligent strategy and uses the upside Warranty/Maintenance business to increase their F&I score on Finance Product sales with MBUSA - "most" other dealers just look at the Warranty/Maintenance contract in front of them for Profit $ on that contract. The F&I score with MB actually is worth more over the year - smart dealer - smart strategy..

My 2020 GLE 350 comes in next week. Just emailed him. Thanks for the information. Will be nice to know Jeff’s pricing before I get behind closed doors with my dealer hoping to squeeze more money out of me.

Slim chance your dealer can match his price. They're losing money on each sale, but making points in other ways as fabbrisd1 explained.

It depends on how many miles a year you average and how long you intend to keep the car. We do just under 10k average and keep s full model cycle so we did 7/75. If you don’r keep it that long it can either be a sales aid, or if you haven’ Used it you can get your money back.

gmz, got mine last week. My dealer matched their price. If he wouldn’t have, I was going to get it from the dealer mentioned here. As you can see from my signature line, I keep mine a good while. I went with the 7/100k. Peace of mind. I’ve bought it on my last two Mercedes and never had to use it. However, this beast has a lot of bells and whistles to go wrong. Let us know what happens. It is a great machine!

50,000 mi./4 yrs. Extended could be useful if you plan to keep beyond 4 years as complex as cars are now. If you get rid of before 4 years you can get a refund or it will be a selling aid.

Question:
Do I have to purchase the ELW within 30 days or I can buy it anytime before the 4yrs/50k expires? Can I get the same price from the dealer mentioned in this thread or the price is good only within 30 days of new car?
Thanks

Agree. I just contacted him and am going to purchase the 6 yr/100k ELW.
We do about 18k miles/year, so run out of the standard warranty mileage within 3 years - this will give us another 3 years of coverage for a very good price.
