Thank you for the quick response. Looks like I have more research to do. I was hoping for just a little more low end but that whole package is interesting.
I used to have loud radios when I was younger and now my hearing is starting to go. I don't want to do more damage, but..... would be nice. I will at least price it out. For research purposes of course.
All things being equal, the Focals would be the louder of those two options given that they are 2 ohms, and would draw quite a bit more power from the amplifier and they are much more sensitive.
Unfortunately the UP W8MB-S4 that I got from Crutchfield does NOT fit a 2024 GLE 450 with the 13 speaker system. No matter how I tried to line up the three mounting holes on BOTH speakers they just would not fit. One was was closer than the other 2 ways but even if I modified the bracket, I wasn't sure it would sit flush.
The only option I can think of right now was to physically try and swap the speakers into the old brackets. But I don't want to do that, have it not work, then not be able to return them. It's a $800 gamble.

How much time did it take you to get that speaker out? Just curious. Anything tricky while doing it on the first go?
The passenger side sub was maybe 30 minutes to pull door sill panel. Then under the glove box panel was one fastener and 2 clips. Then I carefully just muscled the carpet back 9ver itself. I did not pull the seat to remove the whole carpet.
I would have done all that had it lined up but I was just trying to see if it would fit first.
Took delivery of the 2022 GLE450 and absolutely am confused as to why the stereo sounds so terrible. The most obvious thing missing is the lack of bass... All the HK systems in the past never disappointed, but when we ordered the GLE there was no option for the upgraded 3D Burmester....
So.
How does one add a subwoofer to the GLE? Can I retrofit the wheelwell sub from the 3D system?
Does anyone know if adding an aftermarket sub and amp will work with the 48V system?
I've been out of the car stereo game for almost two decades but have always only worked with 12V systems... a quick search on the Internets don't seem to show much as I am sure the target demographic for adding car audio to a GLE450 is miniscule...
Thank you all, I really love the car but can't stand the stereo... by adding a sub I'm sure I can dial in the existing Burmester system a whole lot better.

I added a Kicker 12" solobaric along with a Audio Control amp. It was fairly easy to install and it added substantially to the factory Burmister Audio system. The Burmister itself has 590 watts i belive, plus the 800 additional watts from my audio control.
Next i'm upgrading front end speakers.
