Coding

Why is it so difficult to code this brand? Just seems a bit ridiculous that we have to plug in a laptop and require a third party somewhere to proxy in to code simple changes like a seatbelt chime lol? Every other car I’ve owned and driven could be coded with a paid app and simple OBD Bluetooth dongle? Bimmercode and Carista are two that I use.

I don’t see why an app can’t be created if it can done though a laptop. Someone just needs to create one. They would probably make a lot of money doing it.

They've said they will have a web app eventually for self-service.

And they also have a very good explanation as to why nobody has an app that is safe, won't hack your car or inadvertently brick it. It was posted in this forum but I can't find it now.

The app would have to have diagnostics to determine all the bits and pieces of your build. RJ says they will have an app soon.

@Frenetic email them with your "why can't someone" question.

Well, there’s always a risk when you code, and it’s no different with any other manufacturer, yet that doesn’t deter them. Heck, people would brick the BMW G05 doing an over the air software update from BMW, so much so, that people—including me—would drive to the dealerships and perform the update in the parking lot in case it bricked. Seriously, it was sad and funny.

A good app should be clear and easy-to-use to minimize those risks.

Contact RJ Automotive to become more informed about your question. Since you have multiple threads with this question, once you get the answer, why don't you tell us your findings.

you don't have to do that, going to a dealer to unbrick, if you is have a BenzNinja system
you have the dealer in your trunk
many codings included
Flashing modules by anything else than wired is taking a huge risk
Changing a cluster to FULL AMG, not just some fancy amg addon screens, can only be done by a few hours non stop firmware flashing
doing this not by wire is taking that risk

MB official workshop manuals state "Flashing must not be done over wireless" NEVER

( Don't bother contradicting a fact, I will not respond)
