Lane Keep Assist While Changing Lanes (Driving Assist)
I have LKA off and auto lane change also off. However, Driving Assist will still keep you in your lane whether LKA is on or off.
Every now and then while using Driving Assist, I’ll turn on the turn signal and then start to change lanes and the car will try and jerk me back into my lane. It’s very pronounced, annoying and borderline dangerous. AGAIN, LKA IS OFF.
Anyone else experience this?

Doesn't sound right if you're signaling. Is the signal actually on or did you just press it down for the 3 blinks? I turned mine off because it is too aggressive if you hit the line.

Blind Spot Assist will knock you back into your lane if there's a car in your blind spot. It's independent of LKA.

It’s not that, either. Blind spot assist will beep the moment you turn on your blinker and someone is in the way. Everytime this as occurred there was no one there and no warning.

Do you have Active Steering Assist turned on in these moments, or just DISTRONIC? If the former then it puts up some resistance to the lane change if you have automatic lane change assist turned off until it realizes that you really wanna change lanes. Otherwise it tries to keep you in the current lane. You basically have to be assertive with the steering to indicate that you wanna change lanes. I leave automatic lane change assist turned on, so the moment I indicate it goes for the lane change assuming the adjacent lane is free, but whenever it refuses the automatic lane change for some reason and I still wanna manually change lanes I have to give it some extra steering torque for it to let me "break" out of my lane. I also keep LKA turned off, but I have Active Steering Assist turned on.

Yeah as said I don't really use the system that way. Any particular reason why you turned off Automatic Lane Change Assist? W/o Automatic Lane Change Assist, the Active Steering Assist doesn't know when you are actually going to change lanes, so it keeps steering the car in your lane until you do. Perhaps 9 out of 10 times you are applying enough steering torque for it to detect that you are now changing lanes and not just notching the steering wheel.

It just takes too long to change lanes AND it will jerk you back if you do try and manually change lanes with it on. BUT I have it off and every now and then it will try and jerk me back.

Can't say I have these issues in my '19 C63S, so maybe some differences between models. As soon as I indicate, the car accelerates and changes lanes. But I really only use it when cruising on relatively open highways, or in stop&go traffic (automatic lane change is automatically deactivated in stop&go traffic). If I need to quickly change lanes or dart around slow pokes I take over and deactivate any assistance until things settle down and I can just mostly cruise along again.

It’s a complicated system and if any component is off then strange things can happen.
At one time my early build 2020 GLE 450 was erratic in too many ways to list here-diagnosed and fixed, the radar and camera were out of sync. If this happens it can mistake traffic in other lanes as though they are in yours. Objects in curves become vehicles. Lots more similar errors and lane changes were erratic but still no jerking. There are settings for intervention that do affect driving characteristics…mine are set to late, shouldn’t affect lane changes..
Outgassing of the camera housing can obscure the camera’s ability to see clearly. I had an MBUX controller acting up that caused some strange Distronic behavior before it got worse and was replaced.
My advice would be to recheck all of the settings and make a note that you did. Then take a drive to replicate the issue while recording video on your phone. Now you are ready for a Dealer visit with the credibility that it’s not user error. My Dealer has accepted my video’s on occasion and even passed them on to Mercedes Tech Support.
Good luck- I went from a Distronic hater to loving it.
Edit-I have Lane Keep Assist set to off…always. It’s unacceptable the way it brakes aggressively rather than steer.

I had that happened a few times, all seems to be related to having the turn signal on for too long before switching lane.
I usually turn on my turn signal a bit early when approaching exit on highway, and when the exit lane finally arrived and I start switching the lane, the LKA "pull" me back. It only happened a few times, but all seems to be related to "too early signalling" in my case.

Hmm interesting observation, but I’m glad I’m not imagining it. I consider it dangerous as it will yank the steering unexpectedly and abruptly. I’m going to report it to dealership, and I’m sure they’ll say they can’t find anything wrong, while doing blind software updates because that’s all they know how to do. I’ll also report this to the NHTSA.

To clarify LKA and lane changes, if you engage a turn signal, it will wait until there's an opening in traffic, then make its move when it's safe.
Sometimes I'll want insert myself into a gap more aggressively than the LKA, and it'll fight me.
All systems off in traffic for me.

That’s the thing, the blinker should override LKA and active steering assist. However, in my case, for whatever reason, it doesn’t—on occasion—recognize the blinker, even with LKA off.

Why don't you quit with your Schadenfreude, even if you get the pleasure you've posted that you enjoy so much.
