The interior kind of takes cues from the EQS class. It looks good but it’s lacking buttons and substitutes those weird haptic buttons for all non-screen “buttons.” I don’t necessarily mind on screen menus, but they should just make real buttons for the steering wheel and door panels.
Also, there’s a built-in selfie camera with built-in TikTok. At least they won’t have to hold onto their phone anymore to create TikTok’s while driving.
Will this interior eventually makes it way into the GLE?

So when you're bored just pull over the side of the road and satisfy the urge to play Angry Birds on that ugly azz screen. Even better yet, make a TikTok of you eating your burrito. Your day is now fulfilled. Genius.
FWIW, the dash of the E-Class should stop the whining about the non-integrated center display like in the C/S/SL- Class...
I definitely prefer this over the screen in the W206 but then most others prefer it over this because the W206 design came from the W223 therefore it is to them more luxurious. This new design in the E is different and is far from perfect, but then again, nothing really is perfect in this world.
Just to clarify, we are talking about the standard screen in the E right? If so, (it is just me) but it feels like there is some inspiration from their Van division, the E-Sprinter or was it the EQV for example where the screen is located in the interior. https://images.hgmsites.net/med/merc...00694160_m.jpg
I don't like where all this is going. Haptic surfaces, screens galore, cloud multimedia this and that, subscription based options...
Too bad for Mercedes-Benz.
I don't like the EQS/E nor do I like these new interior designs.

In regards to the “haptic” steering wheel buttons. One big issue I’m having is that I literally have to look at what I’m pressing, taking my eyes off of the road since there are no button surfaces. The existing steering wheel, with different size physical buttons, allowed me to easily use them without taking my eyes off of the road. I sometimes wonder if the engineers even consider these important elements when they design these things or instead are more focused on technological wowness at the expense of everything else.
These haptic buttons also feel cheap. Like the door memory “buttons” on the door card. It’s just one solid piece of plastic with no indentations or raised buttons. When you select driver one or two you again have to look at what you’re pressing and when you press it, the entire plastic piece moves in like a cheap toy. This is one gigantic wart in what is otherwise a great interior.

I really can't emphasize enough how much I hate where all this is going. Seems like every time MB makes a decision, it's the opposite decision I'd make given the opportunity. I suppose there will be plenty of loyalists who will accept having unwanted tech and features crammed down their throats. I'm not one of them.

I'm planning on new cars in 2025 for myself, my wife.....I agree with you that this direction (the entire industry) is headed in is unappealing.
Aston Martin Vantage, GLE 43 AMG, Volvo XC60, BMW X1 35i, Ram 1500, BMW Z4 35i
I'm beginning to keep older cars and aquire more of them to keep from putting lots of miles on any one... give some variety in what I drive.
I have vehicles ranging from 2009, 2011, a couple 2013's and a few 2017's...
