In need of a software engineer. Or a priest.
I gave instructions on how to do it here: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post8845803

When it was happening, it occurred to me that it looked very similar to the anti-pinch feature. Where if it meets an obstruction, it backs off a half inch and parks.
I was wondering if there was some obstruction in the track, or maybe the track wasn't seated fully.
But I haven't investigated that thought any further because my symptom is gone.
Just thinking out loud....
Later that day I was attempting to talk to a buddy while in the driver's seat. The driver side window would not go down. No noise, no nothing. I tried repeatedly but it would't respond. Turned off the car and restarted, then tried again and the window finally dropped. Weird. Then I pulled the window button to close, and it only closed partially - stopping with about a two-inch gap remaining. Gave it a couple seconds, then tried again and it closed the rest of the way. Weirder. And as always, phantom collision warnings and radar alerts continue to occur randomly, and several times CarPlay wouldn't start when my phone was connected, which has happened previously but is becoming more common of late.
On the positive side, the car's downshifting has shown noticeable improvement the last few weeks. When it clunks it still clunks pretty hard, but it doesn't clunk at every stop. Unfortunately the car continues to stumble at times when upshifting in the lower gears. Another plus: the Bosch wiper blades continue to perform flawlessly.
