2023 GLE 450
2023 GLE 350 and 2024 350. Which one should I choose?

I am on the fence between 2023 350 and 2024 350.

2024 350 has the 48V battery mild hybrid EQ system so the engine idle stop/start is seamless ( just like the current 450 model).

Technically speaking, is the regular noticeable engine idle stop/start is more reliable than the 48 volt mild hybrid idle stop/start system?

And I assume the MSRP for 2024 350 model will be higher?

Depending on how it is, the wait on the 2024 might take a while, hopefully you can get some good deals on 2023 as they try to phase it out for the facelift to come.

The regular idle stop/start is most likely reliable but it is not as smooth as the mild hybrid one. It is not just that though, although the facelift power figures are unchanged, the mild hybrid system will be able to assist in the initial pickup when the turbo is taking its time to spool up. There are people that said the four-cylinder is not enough for them so this system should help, enough or not really depends on what you use the vehicle for.

If you are willing to wait and don't mind the price increase or if you like the facelift changes or don't mind it, then get the facelift.

MSRP is higher that is pretty much guaranteed.

Just a minor note, while the horsepower figure is unchanged, the 2024 GLE 350 has a peak torque rating of 295 ft/lbs (from 2000-3200 RPM) whereas the 2023 is 273 ft/lbs (from 1800-4000 RPM). I don't know for sure, but based on the literature, I don't think the increased torque is (solely) from the mild-hybrid system, although it could be since it's over a fairly small range. MB is quoting a very slight 0.1 sec improvement in 0-60, and while it will almost certainly be smoother, it doesn't sound like it will be a night and day performance difference.

The mild hybrid adds 21HP electric motor and about 150 lbs of torque on take off. MB has also added some torque to the motor. The extra torque may be slightly more fuel efficient. You will love the seamless stop and go.
