Need some advice! I’m deciding between a 2024 GLE 53 and GLE 450.

5 years is quite a short time for a modern vehicle, I would not have any concerns over long term reliability in that time frame. Only initial quality.

After driving a 2007 E550 with big fat AMG wheels for 17 years, yes 17 years, I regretfully found myself in the market. I won't bore with the long story but when a test drove the GLE450 it just felt wobbly and loose. I was used to the ballsy V8 in the E550. After 200 plus miles in my new 2024 AMG GLE53 SUV with 21 All Seasons I am BLOWN AWAY. Comfort mode is great, Sport is great, Sports+ is greater and the All Season 21's are great ( I do have the Acoustic Comfort package). I've read /seem mixed reviews on the Sport Exhaust System yet 've found it to be a ton of fun to dial in the experience on each drive. The backfires in Sports+ are something I will miss with my better half in tow.

The non AMG version is in fact "wobbly and loose", no matter the engine choice. If you are used to the firm ride of the AMG, there is your answer.

That's one term for it, but I think more people on the forum have used the term "floaty" to describe the V167 suspension, myself included.

E-ABC (nla 53s) tames it, AMG ARC fixes it. Airmatic tames it in Sport, and pretty much fixes it in Sport+.

Comparing current v167 AMG suspensions to x166 AMG offerings, the 166 suspensions are beyond firm, lose traction on poor surfaces, and seem to have been designed with passenger punishment as a primary goal. ("Boy this is a harsh ride! I guess that's what you have to pay for 'sporty.' ")

I wouldn't own one of those 166 AMGs, or a 167 unless I chose a suspension that gets rid of "floaty."

For me then, the only alternative to a 53 with ARC, is a Cayenne, but only if it has PDCC (Porsche's equivalent of AMG ARC). For an additional $20,000.
