So I am in for my final prepaid service and I need tires. Quoted me a price right around two grand to replace the Michelin‘s with the same ones so what is the consensus get it done here at the dealership or would I save any money anywhere else?

Call for a quote or use the online website for your local tire dealers. Tire Rack, Discount Tire, Belle Tire, Big O etc.
For years for all vehicles we've used Tire Rack. They will ship directly to the Shell station 5 blocks from us and we pay the station to mount and balance. Not only less expensive than the dealer for same tire but so much more convenient.

Shop and compare.
Make sure you include the Dealer - they have been cheaper than Tire Rack, which I use for comparison only.
My experience is that Tire Rack is usually hhigh
I bought my last winters at the Dealer and saved >$400 compared to TR.
Plus Tire Rack doesn't sell one Nokians or include them in their comparisons. IDK if TR's purchase or Discount Tire has reduced the offerings there yet.
Another thing in favor of the Dealer is that they are required by MB to use Hunter 9100 or better balance machines that do Road Force Balancing, which I won't go without.
Not all tire stores have that equipment, which has the additional advantage of not needing an experienced tech to get a good result.
Edit: IMO, MO rated tires work better on Mercedes cars; MO-1 for AMG. I think the advantages are more distinct in the past few years.

I am very curious about the dealers that you have in Colorado. Sounds like you have it pretty good there.
I have NEVER gotten a price from a dealer for anything (including tires) that was similar or better that what I got independently. The thing here is that it has never even been close. Often 2-4 times the other quotes - sometimes thousands of dollars different. I even had my car in for service at my local dealer (given this was years ago) and they mentioned that my car needed tires. I told them I know and I shared the quote I got with them and that I planned on taking it there but it would be great if they would save me the trip since they already had it. They declined to even give me a quote - for the same tires. BTW, TR does sell Nokians now - not sure about the selection but they at least have them, but I have not seen a single review on them at TR yet.
I agree that road force balancing is a must so that is important to check if the tire shop does this.
Dealers only for me when its time to get new tires on any of my cars. Might be more expensive $100-200 from Big O tires or Discount Tires or even Tire Rack but they cant beat Mercedes alignment techs. Top notch the equipment they use worth the money to get tires and alignment together at dealer. Tried once American Tires their alignment was horrible couldnt get steering wheel centered .never again. Be nice with service advisor they can get any tire you want if you call him/her and Im sure they will have a coupon for the alignment and tire service (they recently had buy 3 get 4th for a dollar on there tire selection website) or a family discount if you built a relationship with them and give them a bottle of wine during Christmas time.
My dealers have always been "in the ballpark" with their pricing. +/- $200 mounted, so availability has been a bigger issue.
I lucked out last fall with MO-1 winters in stock when absolutely nobody else had them, and I saved $400.
I got Pirelli Winters. I would have preferred Michelins, but I searched for a month and gave up. Snow had begun.
Yes, TR will ship to dealers, but not all will install tires bought elsewhere.
An issue with dealer tires, though, is that I don't think they honor the manufacturers' mileage and road hazard warranties.
Can anybody verify?
They do have road hazard warranty. Bring in tire damaged they replace with new tire but most of the time it has to be ordered. Coverage was for 2 years at any Mercedes dealership. I’ve used it once they gave me a loaner till tire came in took 2 days.

That's their standard Parts warranty. Good to see that it covers tires as well.
In that case, labor would be included.
Thanks for verifying.
I'll be looking at tires later this year and have wondered if I'll use the dealer. My fear of a third party shop is how careful they are with the wheels and the quality of the balancing.
Ordered new Michelin's through our local dealer a couple weeks ago - at the time we ordered, the dealer was good enough to inform us that Michelin was starting a buy 3 get one free promo the next day, so we placed the order the following day and saved $360. Tires mounted, balanced and aligned was all-in for slightly less than $1,600. We had 48k miles on the original tires and they were still in good shape...probably could have gotten at least another 5k/6 months out of them, but the car was going in for its 50k service so just got it all done at the same time.
Only got 36,000 miles out of these Michelin Primacy Tours and I am an extremely careful driver. Any other brands better?
The Primacy Tours have a 55k warranty - I changed ours out @ 48k and easily could've gotten to 55k based on the tread depth left above the wear bars. Maybe ask the dealer about pursuing a warranty claim w/ Michelin if they're at 2/32" which per Tire Rack is the general measurement for "worn out".

MBs are known for eating tires quickly, read this site. I could only manage low-40k mileage from tires on a W166. Too much negative camber specified by MB, plus low tire pressure, assist systems (active lane keeping etc) and soft compound. Driving habits also play a role.
I repeatedly managed 60k miles on Goodyear Eagle LS2s years ago on a Touareg, but since then none of my car+tire combos have been able to do that.

That makes sense. My tires have only 17k miles and at the last state inspection in march, the dealer suggested I replace them. I don't recall the exact number but it was around $2k. I can assure you there's no way I'm dropping that kind of change on another set of run flat tires that lasted less than 20k miles!
I gave up on the run flats after my third set that only lasted 20,000 miles. Replaced them with Pirelli all season. Tires run much quieter, and after 10,000 miles, show very little wear. I carry a tire fit kit since my GLE has no place for a spare tire.
I'd go dealer. At least they have the socket to take off the flower head bolts and probably won't lose your locking bolts. Plus mine matches Tire Rack prices.
I must be doing something wrong. I’ve quit asking my local dealer about tires because they were always much higher than anyone around me. Tire rack has been the cheapest for me and usually has the tires to me the next day. Oh, and I’m at 33k miles total and about 2k into my third set. Both my MBs eat tires like tic tacs.

Clearly the dealer matters. I use a dealer 100 miles away because their service is insane (Keeler in Latham NY). Prices always competitive. Blew out 2 brand new tires on road hazard and replaced free. I am all dealer all the time on a $100,000+ car.

Yes that is true, they all are individually owned so they operate a little differently.
