3rd Brake Light wire
I can’t do it from the left and right taillights as they are coupled with the indicator.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking to power the light in the diffuser.
The trailer hitch was my first thought but found out that they are a bit more intelligent than earlier models (ML) where in current models the signals are only present after a trailer is connected and detected by the vehicle and also certain features like, parking sensors, etc. are disabled. That's a bit too much, all I am looking to do is power the light in the diffuser. For US model 167s it seems like the 3rd brake lamp is the only place where an isolated signal occurs only when the brake pedal is pressed.
I was just hoping to find out the routing of the wire to the 3rd brake light in the cabin of the car so as to tap into it and avoid accessing it from the hatch and dealing with hinges and routing it back to the rear bumper.

Edit 1: There are many more stylish offerings on the web.
Edit 2: The comment that the newer brake/turn signal circuits not responding when tapped into, is correct when running LED bulbs.
The car needs to see a load in order to recognize the device. LED bulbs don't provide enough load, so no current flows
Two probable solutions of you want to use the 7 pin source.. First, introduce a resistor into th circuit to provide the needed load.
OR use a device that has incandescent bulbs.
