I ditched the run flats on my GLE 550e. The car had no place for a spare, but did have room for a jack and a tire fit kit. Mercedes sells a tire fit kit or you can find similar on Amazon.

currently how it’s installed doesn’t seem to have that fitment? Can someone correct me if I’m wrong?
Some info please; what size wheels and tires? The 20" application has same size tires & wheels front & rear (275/50 on 9J rims) but the rear wheels have a 13mm difference in offset (stick out further). It's easy for a clueless shop to mix the two up.

21" amg vesion so front ones are 275/45R21 and rears are 315/40R21. went to the dealership to get them done and checked they fitted them right. but i felt like my previous set of tires had some of the rear tires going past the fender flares just slightly if i'm not mistaken. might be my imagination so wanted to double check with other folks that have at least 21s and the staggered fit

Okay, I see now you have the 21s, same as I do. If you verified the size, they are what they are. No way to get more poke without adding spacers. If you want to add 12mm spacers in the rear I have a set of new extended titanium lugs I'd sell.

Online tire websites allow search by vehicle or by tire size. When I select ‘by vehicle’ then every website I’ve tried in the US and Canada does not come up with the size currently on my 450e (275/55R19). For example, discounttire shows only 255/50 for 19” diameter.

Meanwhile, if I search by size I am subsequently encouraged to enter the vehicle and, if I don’t, I get a warning saying that ‘fitment’ cannot be guaranteed. One site tells me “This tire DOES NOT Fit or may be too aggressive for your 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450e 4Matic’. (This note came up for Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season, the tires shipped with an Audi Q7.)

So… what could go wrong if I buy a tire based solely on ‘275/55R19’?

Notes: Yes, I will be going in person to get this done, I just want to know the answer to this question beforehand. Yes, I’ve bought tires before and have done nothing different than matching the parameters on the tires to be replaced, even for custom wheels on a BMW. I’m assuming that the near uniform insistence in matching the vehicle brand/model/trim is a CYA for the tire supplier…. just want to know for sure.

Obviously you know 275/55-19s fit, and that is an appropriate size. GLEs originally came with 255/50-19s which are comically undersized (29.1" OD). Overall diameter is about 30.9" which is in the ballpark with other sizes like 275/50-30 and 275/40-21.

Tires go by size/speed/load ratings. Start with the size, 275/55/R19. Verify the speed rating, anything above H will do fine. And finally verify that it can handle the load. Everything else is preference, run flat, tread life rating, snow rated, eco, quiet, etc...

I agree with Greg from above and disregard the 255/50 suggestions and go with the bigger sized 255/75, it's a much better proportion and probably a better ride due to additional side wall. The required load rating from what I've seen is typically XL, I don't think I've seen anything other than that.
