I have a 2021 53 AMG and I am wondering when the new makeover model will come out. I don't want to buy a 2024 facelifted model. Does anybody out there have an inside track? Thx!

MB usually runs 7 year model cycles. I don't think they will spend the money to engineer another platform for the GLE. But, they could redesign the existing interior and exterior to better reflect current styling themes.

I have owned the first of every generation starting with the 1998 ML. They have come out in 1998, 2005, 2012 & 2019. So until this point, a consistent 7-year model cycle. Not sure there will be another IC GLE at this point.

I think there will be one more generation of the IC GLE then they will be out in countries that has mandated no new IC vehicles sales. Some provinces in Canada the target is 2035 no more new ICE vehicles sales. So this will be my last MB vehicle that will have a 6 cylinder motor.

I will never end up with a garage of not having a ICE vehicle. I do not want the idea of worrying about range and where to charge in the middle of winter while going to the mountain to ski. Not to mention the cost of replacing those batteries after 8-10 years which makes the entire point of owning a EV kinda pointless as the price to change the battery of a EQS is +$50k. So if you do not like the idea of having "disposable" cars get a last generation fully loaded GLE (even with the 7 seats, e-abc etc...) before they phase it out. As those cars will be relics and something you will thank yourself having when you see 2 blocks of cars lined-up waiting for them to get charged.

Car companies are milking ICE platforms for longer periods to deploy capital into new EV platforms. Example is the Macan which recently received its second facelift and a delayed BEV replacement.

Consumers are paying the money for long-in-the-tooth platforms so car companies have no incentive to update them. And they have incentive to sell more BEVs because BEVs have lower total production cost than ICE vehicles.

Besides a better charging infrastructure, battery tech needs to improve a lot more. Hopefully solid state batteries will help with that. With my loaner EQB on my last visit to the dealer, the range was horrible even while driving normal but the instant torque was addictive. Maybe with solid state batteries, they can get cars with 1000 mile range so we would only have to charge once a month. I'd definitely switch to EV at that point, in the meantime I'm going to enjoy my V8TT.
