Dashcam issue

I see your comment about recording starting automatically (but not originally). Were you able to do something to trigger this, or did it start after a software upgrade?
Which software version are you on ?

MY 2022 - There is a solution because mine didn't initially auto start. Dealer said it no longer does that. However, after several trips back for issues with dash cam and AR, it just started auto-starting one day, and has been doing it ever since. Ask dealer if there is a software update.
nice, which software version are you running please?
or do you think it was a specific patch for Dashcam ?

Overwrite loop has never worked on mine
I consistently find myself needing to reformat the storage drive of the integrated camera. I handle the process of manual initiation and such, even though I possess two other third-party cameras that operate perfectly without any issues. No such thing as too much evidence.

This is in NTG6/081 - I notice in the in car manual, that under Dashcam settings, there are 2 settings (one for “National Border Alert”, and the one for “Automatic Recording”
However, under my Dashcam settings, I only have the “National Border Alert” option
For those of you who have automatic recording working (under NTG6) - could you please see if you have a seperate “Automatic Recording” option under your settings.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for this, if you have a spare couple of minutes, would you be able to take a look please, on your main infotainment screen select:
- "Settings"
- "System"
- "System Info" (which is right near the bottom)
You'll see a screen like, the version is the part that reads on this one "ntg6/081"

I went back and tried the USB connection on the right where the cupholder is. It is working too. I think I'll leave it there, I'm afraid someone will break it if I leave it in the center console.

2024 GLE63s AMG
Hey everyone. Scroll ahead for opinion. New here so please forgive me if I do anything incorrectly. I started with a 2017 GLE43, Mercedes service department damaged it during service which resulted in an upgrade to a 2021 GLE53. The GLE53 had LOTS of little computer issues but was a great truck. Picked up my Alpine Grey 2024 GLE63s literally yesterday. The salesman told me that I cannot have a dashcam because they can only be installed at the factory. I was told the same about my 53. Fast forward to me scrolling through the main center console screen and I see a new icon labeled “Store” all the way at the very end/far right Click on it and there is an option to pay a one time fee of 200$ for usage of my dashcam. I don’t agree that I should pay again to use a device that Mercedes provides no continued service for but that’s another story.
OPINION:
Pros-
1.very convenient using a small thumb drive plugged into center console
2. video quality is more than clear enough to use for any litigious purpose
3. dont have to worry about a dashcam installer taking apart vehicle, running wiring inside paneling, getting camera working properly, not causing damage, not voiding warranty
4. reviewable while in vehicle on large screen. In an accident situation, it would be very simple to record the playback with your phone to provide to police, other drivers, insurance company.
5. you have the option of using a memory card that is the micro sd card so it could easily be sent to an attorney, insurance company, etc
6. video footage is digitally stamped with time/date
Cons-
1. 1920x1280 resolution is not the best with a frame rate per second “fps” 25. It’s also not the worst. “High Definition” is considered 1280x720. The Mercedes dashcam has a resolution which would be considered 1080p which was the absolute best the television industry could offer less than 20 years ago. The 25fps seems slow when my iPhone is now even 120fps and most televisions are at least 60fps HOWEVER I don’t think this had malicious intent….25fps is the only setting observed in every country so I am guessing it’s convenience. To the point: the video quality is more than clear enough
2- *****Date/time/speed not displayed when watched back while sitting in vehicle. This gets asterisked because I didn’t see it. I watched back two videos and couldn’t see anything. The video itself will be dated when it’s digitally written to the disk but I cannot verify that speed, time or location is legible
3- no rear facing camera. I have not tried to play with the camera system while recording to see if I could make it work but certainly there is no continuous footage to the rear
4- dashcams not looping. I have read lots of comments about owners having issues where the card becomes full but will not over right. I have experienced this issue myself with other devices and can offer some suggestions but let me make it clear “I have not had any electrical issues, regarding the camera or anything else in the new Mercedes”
-try another memory card manufacturer for SD card (DONT BUY CHEAPEST- it matters!!!) 25-40$
-remove the card, place in your computer, wipe and format the disc and try again
-if using an adapter, get a memory card without an adapter
-if you are not using an adapter, get a memory card that requires and adapter
-try plugging the card into a different receptacle
-I have the newest technology possible and I had to go into settings to enable continuous recording

23 EQB here. Dashcam does not overwrite. Speed is shown in kilometers not MPH and no option to swtich from metric to US. Bought a 1tb USB-C Samsung T5. It writes files to the Samsung but they are not readable by even VLC, which reads everything. Same for a Samsung T5. The files wrtten to SD card or USB stick are only readable by VLC-- not by Quicktime on Mac. And it sometimes takes 3 or 4 minutes to activate. Pretty worthless.

I just relegate it to poor MB software-- like in every MB I've owned for the past 7 years. But love the cars so just overlook software.

I just plugged it "ssd based" flash drive via set of connector to the receptacle inside the armrest compartment, see the picture, work fine with no issues whatsoever.

Yep. I have a Garmin camera that was less then $200 and it's far superior in every way. Image quality. Records if my car is bumped while parked etc. The Mercedes Dash Cam is bare bones. Surely not worth $200 when you can get far better options elsewhere.

2023 EQE 500 SUV electric and 2024 Jaguar F-PACE SVR 5.0L
In my EQE SUV anyways my 1 TB SSD wasn't looping and the entire infotainment system would get really slow when it was full. I shrunk the partition down to 64 GB and everything works perfectly now. 128 or 256 would probably work fine too judging from posts I've seen around here I just haven't bothered trying as 64 seems to be enough for me anyways. My guess is it's a disk caching problem.
